So did the dev say anything of note in the feb update? Is so weird that this game with so much content and support randomly was abandoned

Was one of the first games i played of this kind. Was really fun. Lily remains one of the best characters, and i would love to see a new game with her, with improved render quality, since these days they can make them more detailed than they could back when this game was released.
Anyway i am sure going to play the game again at some point.

The problem lies in the material, almost impossible to find, and in the characters, if the creator shared the information, but he hasn't done so up to now, so I don't think it's possible.
