Wait what? There is another gang rape scene apart from Lisa getting smashed drunk at the bar on her own and then getting railed? Cause if that is the scene you're referring to, that one is definitely optional and separated from Paul's route. It's always available and completely dependent on how much she drinks. I know cause I never played Paul's route and shot him down way early in his route when he tried to blackmail Lisa, and I still was able to trigger the bar rape scene. Granted the moment I saw where it was going, I outright stopped the game and reverted back to the save point where she is still drinking and just walked away after two drinks.

Also, Paul's route smells of rapey vibes from the getgo. If anyone treads on it, they should be prepared to deal with every kind of deviancy associated with the genre, no?
Yes there is and it's more traumatic (at least for me) than the bar scene).

You say Paul's route was rapey and you're not wrong but A, it went from from 5 to 500 and B, it excluded to possible route of a corrupted Lisa turning the tables on Paul and fully domming him

By the time you reach that scene it isn't optional, the trigger point for it is getting on the Paul blackmail path. PG did put in an escape point but I didn't realise the path was going to escalate so rapidly so didn't use it and saved

After viewing the scene the next thing that happened was the Byron beach date which didn't feel right in context

I felt icky about playing so stopped. I deleted my save because there was no way off the Paul blackmail route. I stopped supporting PG because, after 2 months of not wanting to play his game anymore due to the aforementioned ickyness, I decided to spend my money elsewhere
I can understand your opinion on that. That said, I probably became a supporter about the time you stopped.

I knew that Paul's blackmail path was getting dark, but DwP gave us a gut-wrenching frighteningly realistic set of scenes that really dialed it up to eleven. It didn't feel like non-con fantasy or a rapeplay porn. It was actually painful to watch.
Even as someone who enjoys the non-con fiction genre I had a few days/weeks where I was conflicted.

The more I thought about it the more I realized this is a really masterful piece of art.
There have been parts of this game's story where I had to look away from the screen because I was crying (particularly the part where a character talks about the tattoo she has in memory of her brother.) There have been happy moments, scary moments... the whole range of emotions.
And yes, there have been parts of this game's story that felt worse than a hard gut punch.
And yes, there have been a lot of sexy parts.

It's a great piece of adult interactive fiction. It's also a great piece of literature.
Even though I can't stand RPGM and am waiting patiently (unlike lots of people) for the Ren'Py version to catch up (which will happen after the Party) I'm happy to support artwork like this (to my limited financial ability.)

And while I wasn't certain after the DwP scenes, I'm planning to continue down that path to see what happens.

Adding an escape point makes the scene optional. And there was a warning before the scene that it was going to be intense.

I felt icky about playing so stopped. I deleted my save because there was no way off the Paul blackmail route. I stopped supporting PG because, after 2 months of not wanting to play his game anymore due to the aforementioned ickyness, I decided to spend my money elsewhere
It's your money, and you should spend it as you see fit. I never try to tell people how to spend or not to spend their money, just as I don't tell them how to vote, what entertainment to read/watch/play or not read/watch/play, or what substances to put or not put into their bodies. But I will often comment on their choices, and it still seems like an overreaction to me to stop playing and supporting a game because of content which you can just skip and treat like it doesn't exist.

But, as I said, it's your money, your playtime, and your choice.

I knew that Paul's blackmail path was getting dark, but DwP gave us a gut-wrenching frighteningly realistic set of scenes that really dialed it up to eleven. It didn't feel like non-con fantasy or a rapeplay porn. It was actually painful to watch.

It felt very much like a non-con fantasy and rape porn - at least, fantasies and porn which I've experienced. There are a great many rape fantasies and a great deal of rape porn out there which are much more severe than this scene was.

Speaking for myself, I didn't find this scene at all uncomfortable to play through. I enjoyed it very much, both as a piece of erotica and as a piece of good writing (in terms of plot and character development, raising stakes, and increasing conflict). But I don't attempt to criticize anyone else for how they felt about it.

The more I thought about it the more I realized this is a really masterful piece of art.
I agree that this scene was very well done.

And for the people who want Lisa and Danny to be together and to have a good relationship, this scene offers an additional emotional impact. I don't know how many people spotted it, but this scene includes the first time in the game that Lisa says that she loves Danny. Personally, I felt it very strongly that the first time that Lisa fully recognizes and declares her love for Danny is when she knows that she is moments away from being raped. And when a story makes you feel something strongly, that's usually an indication of good writing.

And while I wasn't certain after the DwP scenes, I'm planning to continue down that path to see what happens.
Since I'm not the developer, I can only guess, but I'm thinking that what will happen is that Lisa will continue to suffer increasing abuse at Paul's hands, and possibly also at the hands of Connor and Mark, but will eventually break free and "get her own back", possibly with an unpleasant end for the guys.

we need a hero!
The quency77 account that transferred the game to the Renpy port has been inactive since March 22. that is, the last post entered from this account is the post where the Renpy version of the game is shared.
In this case, we can assume that quency77 is an obsolete account. There are a lot of people in F95 who are qualified to transfer the game to Renpy, I hope one of them will come out as a hero ♥♥♥

hope you can find a game you like. its not easy to find a game you like till the end of the development. Games change a lot during development sometimes you just don't like them anymore.

next time if you see a warning (and the dev did make it sound dead serious), think twice before you dive into the path or this whole thing could happen again.

Yeah, I played a version last year and was loving it. Ran into that bar scene and got the warning. I was like 'okay, I've seen stuff where the lines of consent were blurry in the past, won't be anything new', but that just cranked up to 500 like you said. I was playing this fun, relatively light-hearted game about a girl navigating her life and sexuality and then this brutally dark scene ruined it. Literally took the better part of a year to get the taste out of my mouth.

If block that out of my memory, this is genuinely the best adult game I've ever played

Content drama... blah, blah... Fetish drama... blah, blah... Legal policy drama... blah, blah... Platform drama... blah, blah... o_O

Who cares? All of this just gets in the way of the truly important issues that fundamentally affect gameplay, scenario immersion, and dramatic continuity. Let's get back to the most important burning question that boggles the mind and adds untold hours to player insomnia and reality obfuscation:
  • In Western Renshire...
  • In the red brick cafe...
  • On the interior wall...
  • On the blackboard....
Why the h*ll is it full of elementary differential calculus equations?????

(Dedicated to the devs who feel that all their work on backgrounds and setting goes unnoticed and unappreciated.)

Is it just me or does the bar scene give you ample hints about how bad things are going to go down?

Putting aside PG's blatant warning about it, she is literally smashed drunk and clearly not in control. And then, in walk two dudes, who can only be described as subhumans with the word "douchebag" stamped on their forehead. And before things even get to 500, they are already leaking hints about their intentions with Lisa at the bar table.

Admittedly, my curiosity got the best of me and I continued the scene against my better judgement, but the moment they pulled her into the public restroom and started manhandling her, I knew in that instant that there would be nothing consensual or reasonably gentle about the unfolding of this event and I simply reverted a save.

Granted, I got caught off-guard by the nature of the event myself as the game does put you in a very different, sunny side of life story immersion. But it also reminds you of how horrific a direction your life can take by making one innocent mistake.

Anyways, to each their own, I suppose. Perspective differs, and for me, I simply walked away from the route rather than cultivate a strong opinion against the entire game. After all, the rapey content is completely optional and is not needed to enjoy/advance the main story at all.
