Back to the grind! ^_^

Hiya folks! ♥

First off, I read every single one of your comments and messages, 2, 3, 4x each and I'm so grateful for all of your kind words. They were truly uplifting when I was sickly this past week. I had planned to respond to all of them individually but I'm just shifting modes going forward and I don't want to revisit the negativity that I showcased in my previous post. It's not my best color. I'm focused on next steps and keeping things positive.
SPEAKING OF POSITIVE! (I should say negative..) My Mother's second biopsy results came back and it was 100% clear of any melanoma which is obviously the best news I've ever heard. They're bringing her in for a scan of her lymph nodes because they're still swollen but the fact that the first tumor they removed seems to have caught all of the cancer is just so, so relieving. There's genuinely nothing that could sour my mood atm.

So I DID take a few days off. I was making music for the game during the first couple of days. Music is my zen so it doesn't really count as "work." I went to visit my Mother who was sick at the time. Just a flu or something but I didn't know she was unwell until I arrived. The day following that I felt a little tweak in my throat and 24 hours after that I'm unable to get out of bed with a fever. I really thought I was getting away with no illness this winter but nope! So my week off ended up spent in bed, drifting in and out of consciousness whilst burning alive so things didn't go exactly to plan.. lol ^_^

I'm past the fever stage now, just a sore throat, an endlessly runny nose and skin that's painful to touch which I'm sure everyone's well familiar with but I am eager to get back to work. I still felt stressed the entire time because I wasn't working but I don't think that problem is gonna solve itself by taking anymore time off.

That's really about it. I just wanted to get in touch and let you all know that I'm back at it. There are a ton of other things I want to discuss. The future of early access, my own public profile, where I'll be putting videos that I think are cool but didn't meet the criteria, my recent confirmation to the Steamworks partnership program and how patch distribution could be upgraded in future but I'll leave all of that for another day.
I did go ahead and make the video for the bathroom section of the scene which you can preview here:

I didn't bother recompiling a whole new patch to add this video as nothing else has been added to the game since 3.3.0A.
I'm gonna continue on with the scene and try to get it wrapped up as soon as possible. The next patch release won't be until the entire scene is finished and that includes the next morning sequence. I also won't be assigning a deadline for this until I have it prepped for testing.

Once again, thank you all for your support over the past couple of weeks. I wasn't in great shape physically or mentally but if anything helped, it was reading all of your comments and messages x

Thank you so much ♥

So, to summarize, what did leaking an unfinished patch to the public just two days after release, way earlier than when it usually is released according to the creator's wishes, achieve?
1. Some players' unlikely to ever pay for the game - "garr, we're pirates, garrhh, this is a pirate board, what is he crying for, we don't give a shit about the creator, who has always been very transparent and or his publicly stated wishes for release cicles, we're pirates" - got to play it a week or so earlier.
2. One user got some likes on this forum for leaking the game early, I guess.
3. Some players - again, unlikely supporters of the game to begin with - played the unfinished patch, and were dissapointed in it being an unfished, buggy patch, and thus, they're even more unlikely to support the creator.
4. See above, but a possible reputational loss for PaleGrass - what sort of amateur creater releases an unifished, buggy patch?
5. Of course, the loss of the pretty severe one-time bump a creator usually gains when people sign up for a patch, grab the download and then immediately unsubscribes again. This is coming from the horse's mouth.
6. If nothing else, a lot of personal strife and worry for the creator of the game - and again, some won't care and will call him all sorts of names and criticize him (also likely me) for not seeing what enormous worth the game just simply existing on F95 is to him, so in hindsight, I'm not sure how much of a point this is.

That, as far as I can see it, was what was gained due to the (waayyyy) early release.

What does that mean going forward;

1. No more precise announcements of release dates or deadlines. Everyone will just have to wait and suck up their waiting.
2. Early access patches - likely, and this is speculative - like the one that was leaked, being released in very limited fashion. A lot less people will be able to play the new content at game at an earlier stage.
3. Patch distribution could mean nothing, as far as possible, being released to the public before a patch is fully done and bugtested. No more Alpha releases, no more Beta releases, longer cycles between patches.
4. I would assume lot less transparency from an otherwise very transparent and open creator, who got burned (financially) because of an early leak, and who will, assumedly, turn inward in terms of who trust and what to communicate during the creating process.

And again, some of the above is very much speculative, and some users will continue the "it's a pirate board, who gives a shit about any of this"-line of thinking, and that's what it is I guess.
For others, well, exactly the same: it is what it is. Some ruined it for others.

A lot of people here (and in real life) really can't put themselves in other people's shoes

I've hit a point in the game (version 3.2.5) where I can't finish the Luca path, I can't seem to get the topless option at the bathhouse, and subsequently can't get the last bathhouse "exhibition event" to open. Any ideas? The walkthru for the Luca path states I need to read a signpost in the park after finishing Jayce's party. I completed Jayce's a long time ago in the game and don't remember ever reading or even seeing the yellow circle for a signpost in the park after Jayce's party.

If you click on the gray figure, it will give you a hint about what is missing.
