Por lo que otra causa es que por algún motivo tengas seleccionada una resolución 4:3 y no 16:9 en la Configuración de pantalla de Windows, opción que puedes comprobar y modificar apretando el botón derecho del mouse sobre el escritorio de Windows, y seleccionando Configuración de pantalla.
The cause may be that you have a monitor with a 4:3 screen format, although in those cases the video driver should be in charge of adjusting the resolution of the image in full screen, to the width of the resolution of that monitor, adding black bands above and below.
Another cause is that for some reason you have selected a 4:3 resolution and not 16:9 in the Windows Display settings, option that you can check and modify by right-clicking on the Windows desktop and selecting Display settings.

And another alternative is to select the gear icon on the screen of that game, and in Fullscreen select NO to play it in windowed mode.
