The videos and pictures are copyrighted material. They are not his own content. And they are most likely not 'free to use for commercial purpose'.

You also have to differentiate what you do with it: Using them for non-profit reasons is a different matter than trying to make money with it by either selling them directly or - in this case - by "selling" them by demanding money so people can access his patreon and download it from there (= commercial purpose).

OP basically tries to make money by using those videos/pictures in his game, so this becomes a offense for which he can get sued (or Patreon, because they are distributing it via the plattform). That's why Patreon is deleting stuff like that usually immediately (as soon as they notice).

As said, it's all written down in Patreons (and basically every content selling plattform ever) terms.

I think it depends on the reputation of the developer and his attitude towards the players, and then on whether people on patreon will bombard him with reports or not.

I try not to use such platforms and not to introduce monetization of my projects.

1. I have a stable income which allows me to do this as my personal hobby.
2. As soon as I start selling my product or implementing monetization, I will start being indebted to the people who bought or supported it. I like the independent approach of development when I can create what I like.
3. I don't have clear plans or fully finished games yet, so why should I charge money for a product that I won't finish? I'm too honest with the players.

Purely my personal opinion and nothing more.
