LonaRPG is a sandbox game (not really roguelike), it's akin to games like Skyrim, Fallout, GTA and such. It's definitely far far more forgiving with far far less RNG in comparison to DD. I haven't played much of DD since I'm not that into games that are very RNG-heavy. This game is more knowledge check than stat or RNG check, it's only unforgiving for people who don't know much about the game's content and its mechanics (aka beginners. Veteran can complete all content even with a level 1 Lona), so they gotta have to experiment to see how things work which is exactly what's fun about this game (and what's nasty for people who don't want to think too much) since its mechanics is extremely deep, but simple (I still discover new stuff and techs even after hitting more than 200 hours).

If you love challenge, if you love to experiment, if you're a gamer who love to use his head, if you're here for the RPG element before the sex, if you don't mind suffering from the lack of info as a beginner, if you love making NPCs fight among themselves (my favorite thing in this game) then I invite you to play LonaRPG. I recommend to go in blind and see for yourself first.
Thank you for the reply! I know it might sound bit rude after you already typed out a long answer but i want to ask if the RNG can be manipulated or subverted the same way in DD? i realized that this game is similar to DD in being a knowledge check but i want to know how much of the RNG you can subvert or manipulate just by having extensive knowledge.

im a fan of rougelike with heavy RNG but i only like it when the RNG punishes me for bad decisions and not the RNG just deciding to fuck with me just because it felt like it

There's definitely the type of RNG that can fuck your entire playthrough just coz it felt like it. Even if you have the knowledge and have everything planned well you can still get caught off guard, one example is getting ambushed by bandit in the starting city, Noer, where the rural place is usually pretty cramped so you'll oftentimes get surrounded. One counter example is by increasing Lona's Weak stat to 50+ and make those bandits try to rape Lona instead of attacking her, that allows you to instigate a fight between those bandits and seize a chance for escape. However you can still get fucked by the RNG stun that comes from the bandits' light attack, or even be surrounded still, so it's not an entirely foolproof method (you can alleviate the stun effect through shielding).

The RNG isn't as prevalent as in DD, but it's still enough to get you fucked regardless of your strategies mainly because of bad positioning and stun.

Yeah, that specifically is bad RNG, however the game isn't filled with it so most of the situations is under your control IF you know what you're doing, hence the existence of a myrriad good interesting techs. This game as I said isn't a roguelike, it's a sandbox game that encourages experimentation through trial and error. One single situation can be resolved through many types of way, not just 2 or 3. Meta build or meta gameplay doesn't exist here.

Damn, that's some solid advice! Thank you!

farming Mutated Mushroom inside a dead forest
Sounds good, will try!
For endgame leveling, it's either saving prisoners
And that's exactly what I started doing. I thought it would be a better grinding option. I'm glad it actually is
make sure the world difficulty doesn't exceed a certain number, like 30+ iirc
Well, it's too late. It's at level 49, and it will become level 50 any minute now
make sure the difficulty is set to 'HARD' not higher
Can't imagine playing this game on anything other than hard. It would become an unnecessary tedium. Spoiling food? No thanks

or grind until get bored
I guess it's my only option now, lol. Oh well. I want to finish this playthrough
mutated mushroom at some point
Yeah, I really wanna try this now
just die and rebirth
I'd also like to point out that I'm playing the virgin route, so no rebirths for me, lol

Compared to darkest dungeon how rougelike is this?
Not roguelike at all. I know exactly what you're looking for, and no, this game is nothing like it
LonaRPG is an action RPG. It's not a game about numbers, it's about knowing the game mechanics. It has a lot of real-time fights that can get hectic quickly. It also has stealth, by the way
i want to know how much of the RNG you can subvert or manipulate just by having extensive knowledge
This game is not about subverting numbers. Your DD skills won't help you here

No, I'm not trying to discourage you from playing it. In fact, I highly recommend it because it's just good. It's just that this is definitely not what you're expecting. If you like real RPGs (but more fighting oriented, not talking), this is it. It sometimes reminds me of the OG Fallout games (like 1 and 2) or Gothic. Yeah, Gothic is a good example in a sense that you get fucked at the beginning because you have no idea what to do. But it's nothing like DD. At all

If you are using roleplay-s mod there is an item called 'affinity' for each race that let you rebirth as that race, you can get them from cliff(x:43 y:68), affinites requriements are completing unique npcs questline(Cecily,Cocona,Elise) i dont know which questline need to be done for abomination affinity.

I'm going for a warrior build, mostly to snipe enemies. Can anyone recommend what traits to level first? I was thinking of investing some in scout, wisdom, constitution and the rest in combat. Or would that sort of distribution be stretched too wide?

I don't think you need wisdom in your build. One point of wisdom only adds one trading point to each item you sell (should add 1% of the price instead if you ask me). It also adds magic attack damage (irrelevant for you), and, at some ludicrous levels (something like 20), it adds new dialogue options several times throughout the game (not worth it). Sure, it also spawns more herbs in the world, but whatever.

Yes
I think most of the WIS checks are 15, with 20 being exceptionally rare (like the Woodson family one.)

Well, actually... (and it's been a while so maybe this event is not in there? someone updated pls correct me) There is a small chance that in the main town, you can encounter a preacher from the church. If you pay them enough they can reduce the world difficulty.
