Actually, even without the help of Cecily and Gray Rat, you can still kill that bandit by spamming the fire lantern since it does DoT that gets higher the lower the NPC's DEF is, and that DoT has a chance to cause injuries that decreases DEF stat, you'll need at least 1 or 2 blue potions to tank most of the hit that comes your way while spamming that fire. Assuming you're below level 15 and haven't toggled some of the important traits such as 'Weapon Knowledge' and purchased any of the important items like Halberd or Saber+Dagger, then the lantern is another free potent tool you can make use of, it's even super effective in killing Mad Beast. There's far more ways to deal with bandits once you hit level 15+ and have unlocked all of the important traits.I can see your point about the sandbox aspect, but the guide they have on their official wiki told me to specifically kill the enemy. And it does have a specific way to beat the level as it's quite literally impossible for me to kill the bandit alone, so stunning and then talking to Cecily was quite literally the only way to pass that part of the mission.
I have to disagree on this one. I've also played Violated Heroine and as far as gameplay goes, it's quite worse than LonaRPG in every single aspect since it has no stat/skill building, has near zero gear progression along with a jankier (in a bad way) combat that has no real depth to it. I'm playing Violated Heroine more for the porn than the RPG part since the later leaves a lot to be desired, I'm enjoying it for what it is.I'm not unfamiliar with this style of combat. I have played Violated Heroine and found its combat decent. The issue is that most tile sets are way too small, there's no strafing, and everything is dark af. Add on top the extremely twitchy enemy AI, and it's frankly a chore to kill anything that takes more than two or three hits to down.
Having LonaRPG turn into a turn based RPG would mean that it will have less freedom of action. Let me show you something that a turn based game can't replicate:If this game were a tactical turn based rpg, then the tile sets would've been perfect, but this isn't.
If we're talking about ease of play, then I agree with you. Playing as Human Lona, even as a veteran, can be pretty annoying due to stamina management. This is one of the main reason why I main Abomination Lona since this one only needs you to hold one button to regenerate not only STA but HP as well through desecration. I made an entire guide on how to rebirth into this race and how to play it, the link is in my sig. Just to show you a few examples of what this race can do, here:My main issue with the stamina system is that you have to go out of your way to regenerate it. Once again, if it were like Violated Heroine and regenerated when you did nothing, it's be fine. But the fact that I have to specifically use the rest key to regenerate stamina is just annoying.
Pressing 'SHIFT' during those charging skill will cancel said skill.Oh, and the fact that I literally cannot cancel throwing a rock for distracting is also stupid.
The NPC's pathfinding is certainly dogshit, which is even more apparent with those prisoners, no arguing this. As for rally trumpet, it mainly serves as a way to control your companion's position which can help depending on the environment. It's not perfect but it has its good use if you know where and when to use it.Edit: The pathfinding for the companion AI is also so dogshit lol. The rally trumpet skill barely does anything.
You're right. Just like Dark Soul, it won't appeal to the ones who don't want to exert too much effort and just want a good time. Each person got their own way of enjoying games. I love challenges that doesn't involve too much grind, have little RNG (thank God this game doesn't have crit chance or RNG stats distribution upon level up) and have lots of freedom, so LonaRPG is pretty much one of the most perfect games for me.Honestly, in my opinion regarding a lot of these posts. I get the general gist is that many people savescums while learning the rope of the game (And it's perfectly fine, we've all been there, still do) and a large portion of those feel bad savescumming a game instead of having a good time playing an average or easy game that hold their hands (feelgood time).
It just a matter of experience with gaming in general, it's like wine, it will grows with time and experience, but whether people stick with it till it get good/enjoyable or not is an entirely different matter considering the dangerously low attention span state society's heading into.
The guide is also unofficial, don't take it straight. The specific way to kill or maim said bandit alone is not true. Trap and lantern which at this point of the game anyone can get access to will solve 90% of all 1 vs 1 situation you run into.I can see your point about the sandbox aspect, but the guide they have on their official wiki told me to specifically kill the enemy. And it does have a specific way to beat the level as it's quite literally impossible for me to kill the bandit alone, so stunning and then talking to Cecily was quite literally the only way to pass that part of the mission.
Even with turn based mode, Lona stats would put her at a serious disadvantage in a "stand still trading blows and shots" situation, especially at the start of the game. If anything, the real time combat heavily and handily reward skill based players, planners and fast thinking players more.Add on top the extremely twitchy enemy AI, and it's frankly a chore to kill anything that takes more than two or three hits to down. If this game were a tactical turn based rpg, then the tile sets would've been perfect, but this isn't.
I did mention to get a feel out of the game, And that mean blue potion, grass, rain forest, repeatable quest. All the essential Stamina needs gonna be resolved real fast once a player get the feel of the cauldron, survival aspects of the game. Chug potions and be a drug addict and pay the price. My main issue with the stamina system is that you have to go out of your way to regenerate it. Once again, if it were like Violated Heroine and regenerated when you did nothing, it's be fine. But the fact that I have to specifically use the rest key to regenerate stamina is just annoying.
I mentioned the cons of TB combat in a stats vs stats situation above and the pros of real time combat. The predecessor for Lona was Feira's quest, and it's exactly as you described. You can download it and get the feel of even more jankiness.I just feel like 90% of the issues with this game would disappear if the combat were in the style of a tactical turn based RPG.
You can, default throw rock is Spacebar, try pressing shift or another key and see a miracle performed.Oh, and the fact that I literally cannot cancel throwing a rock for distracting is also stupid.
Press "rally trunper", HOLD and drag with your mouse. Try it for science.Edit: The pathfinding for the companion AI is also so dogshit lol. The rally trumpet skill barely does anything.
Shameless plug hereI personally took the hard way, i think i created over 200 traps to save cecily and grey rat, it took me an entire hour of stealth gameplay to do it
Beginners tip on the wiki told me to go either succubus or warrior. I went with succubus because this is a porn game. I didn't even know the lantern could apply multiple stacks because it doesn't say anything in the in-game menu nor does it say anything in the wiki. Once again, the game tells me none of that and I guess I'm just supposed to know everything before I even start playing the game.Actually, even without the help of Cecily and Gray Rat, you can still kill that bandit by spamming the fire lantern since it does DoT that gets higher the lower the NPC's DEF is, and that DoT has a chance to cause injuries that decreases DEF stat, you'll need at least 1 or 2 blue potions to tank most of the hit that comes your way while spamming that fire. Let's agree to disagree. I'm not talking about the gear progression or skill building, etc since I also think that VH's stuff is pretty shit and Lona's is probably better. I'm only talking about the combat since VH I'm able to actually kite enemies with strafing without getting an aneurism with the alt+direction key I have to use.I have to disagree on this one. I've also played Violated Heroine and as far as gameplay goes, it's quite worse than LonaRPG in every single aspect since it has no stat/skill building, has near zero gear progression along with a jankier (in a bad way) combat that has no real depth to it. I'm playing Violated Heroine more for the porn than the RPG part since the later leaves a lot to be desired, I'm enjoying it for what it is.
That's really cool that the game allows for this. But with how weak Lona is, I just can't see myself enjoying the combat when the only thing I can consistently kill by myself is a literal maggot. Maybe it'll improve and I'll finally be able to enjoy the gameplay after I sink 100 hours into the game and learn everything about the systems, but by that logic I'd rather just play another game with better systems and/or better porn.Having LonaRPG turn into a turn based RPG would mean that it will have less freedom of action. Let me show you something that a turn based game can't replicate:
You can see there that I managed to create a chaos and infighting by baiting that archer into shooting the guy in front of Lona. Since my Lona is a race of Abomination, she regularly needs a fresh corpse to consume in order to avoid getting sick, however directly killing neutral NPC will reduce Lona's morality, so one of the solutions is to instigate a fight between NPCs. This is the type of interesting strat you won't see in a turn based and this is just one example out of many.
This is another point against LonaRPG as a game imo. If the race I as a new player, knowing next to nothing about the game, start as is one of the harder races to play, then how the hell am I expected to stay around? If we're talking about ease of play, then I agree with you. Playing as Human Lona, even as a veteran, can be pretty annoying due to stamina management. This is one of the main reason why I main Abomination Lona since this one only needs you to hold one button to regenerate not only STA but HP as well through desecration. I agree that removing the stamina system wouldn't be good. I just think it should be made to be more forgiving, whether it being able to regenerate a certain amount after resting like how a horse's stamina bar works is in the game Rust, or something else that makes it less of a pain to work around. I just think if a game requires me to cheat and turn off integral systems to not be annoyed to death then it's probably not a great game design-wise.Having said all of that, I still stand by my point that removing this stamina system is an extremely bad idea. If you want to have a better time, rebirth into Abomination Lona. If that still isn't enough, then you can resort to Cheat mod and get unlimited stamina/food which is also quite okay since having fun is the primary goal here.
Thanks. I don't think this is mentioned anywhere, and even if I wanted to learn more, the moot that gives me the tutorial text fucking disappears after the first day so I'm unable to access them again. Thanks game designers.Pressing 'SHIFT' during those charging skill will cancel said skill.
I'll be real, so matter if I spam or hold the ability, it still just won't work 90% of the time. Gray Rat will just be half a mile away moving spastically because the companion AI's pathfinder is nonexistent. As for rally trumpet, it mainly serves as a way to control your companion's position which can help depending on the environment. It's not perfect but it has its good use if you know where and when to use it.
Well it's on the wiki and there's nothing that teaches me this stuff in game. As a new player with 0 knowledge going in the wiki and the guide it provides is quite literally the only handrail I'm provided because the game itself provides me with nothing. The guide is also unofficial, don't take it straight. The specific way to kill or maim said bandit alone is not true. Trap and lantern which at this point of the game anyone can get access to will solve 90% of all 1 vs 1 situation you run into.
Lantern fire stacks 5 times, that 80% of frame rates stunning, the bandit gonna be stunlocked and burn to death, trap alone or as a bonus help speed this up tremendously.
Lona conversation with the guild receptionist did mention all the quest after Sewer rat extermination are meant to be for veteran adventurers or people willing to stain their hands/daredevils/desperate people, so I think you rushed things up there. It heavily imply you should not have taken the first main quest Caravan inspection, not before doing any of the repeatable quest to get a feel out of the game
Let's just agree to disagree on the topic of tactical turn base vs real time.Even with turn based mode, Lona stats would put her at a serious disadvantage in a "stand still trading blows and shots" situation, especially at the start of the game. If anything, the real time combat heavily and handily reward skill based players, planners and fast thinking players more.
The first time I tried cooking food with the dark cauldron ended up with it exploding in my face twice in a row.I did mention to get a feel out of the game, And that mean blue potion, grass, rain forest, repeatable quest. All the essential Stamina needs gonna be resolved real fast once a player get the feel of the cauldron, survival aspects of the game. Chug potions and be a drug addict and pay the price.
Thanks. You can, default throw rock is Spacebar, try pressing shift or another key and see a miracle performed.
I've tried it. Does nothing. Gray Rat is still having a stroke in the corner trying to figure out how to cross a bridge.Press "rally trunper", HOLD and drag with your mouse. Try it for science.
One of the Hardest get good cases I've seen in a long time. Only thing I can advice is get good tbh game once you learn is really easy, you just need to learn it.Well it's on the wiki and there's nothing that teaches me this stuff in game. As a new player with 0 knowledge going in the wiki and the guide it provides is quite literally the only handrail I'm provided because the game itself provides me with nothing.
I literally didn't know that the lantern fire stacks, nor that it stuns. I don't even know how to make traps in the first place.
At that point I already completed the Crystal Mine monster clean up 2-3 time with the dog as my companion. It was boring af since I couldn't see anything and the dog did most of the killing, so I decided to do the first main quest of the game. Besides, it was fairly easy for the most part since I just needed 3 SCU to sneak.
Let's just agree to disagree on the topic of tactical turn base vs real time.

Thanks.

0.10 actually. I read about that on itch.Isnt 1.0 supposed to be dropping soon?
Shift + Rally trumpet hotkey. Move that cursor on Gray Rat, he will be highlighted in green, slowly drag guide him manually or just hold and mouse drag Rally trumper whole party by making lines with your mouse. Allies and enemy units operate based on the "out of sight, out of might" limitation by game engine so if they happen to be one or one and a half screen away from you, they won't move or, in the case of enemy, be aggro.I've tried it. Does nothing. Gray Rat is still having a stroke in the corner trying to figure out how to cross a bridge.
Clap clap. I play FMC game alot but I don't let myself get confused by fiction, this guy, on other hand.
Your very first message was you comparing the game to "real life" contradicted yourself again Clap clapIn fact, I think you need to put this situation on a realist scale and see how it goes: A malnourished teenage girl with scrawny hands and legs vs a grown ass adult bandit male that steal, eat and rape to his heart's content. Yeah, no cap.
But...bonking him in the head then cut his throat or douse him in gasoline ? Absolutely, I have read about many hookers revenge story like that irl, not the most gallant kill but it works.
Taking lines of words at face's value. That's a simpleton for you.Your very first message was you comparing the game to "real life" contradicted yourself again Clap clap
tell me the truth are you a troll or just retarded?
He says contradicting himself a third time in a rowTaking lines of words at face's value. That's a simpleton for you.
Anything I post or wrote, bit by bit, perfectly enhance or complement each other. There's no contradictions. Using lore, stats and scripts (things author put time and mind to handcraft and balance into the game to create his little world) to verify and deduce the situation and status of npc vs npc and how they would fare against each others. And from that to deduce how little Lona would fare against such threats...etc
^But I bet you can't think a sec and just decide to scrutinize me :"ha ha, look at this guy contradicting himself, I'm oh so smart i'm gonna show him who's the boss"
Petty, but it's funny![]()
I respectfully disagree with this opinion. A game should at the very least explain to you all the mechanics in-game. While this game does tell me about most of the mechanics, a lot of the finer yet still quite important details (like canceling a throw or the fact that the torch scorch stacks) aren't explained at all and require me to use a wiki to even understand how to use them. Hell, I don't think they even explain what the icons on the top of the screen (the face and the two bars below and to the right of it) even are.At this point, I can only offer a simple advice, i'm an old gamer and I don't do guide, faqs or walkthrough at all unless I want to completionist a game. Now I understand the need to have guide for live-service games or Gatchas because people need that competitive edge thrill but this is an offline game, players should just go blind, expect the worst, grow and adapt to the challenge by themself. And I think that's the best way to enjoy a game without the need to be reliant on anyone's else backseating.
Understandable. You weren't the only one to have big issue with the game. My goal wasn't to convince you but to give you guidance and to show you what the game has to offer through the perspective of a player who enjoys it. The dev never intended this game to be for everyone, he already knew it's going to filter a lot of people, and there's nothing really wrong with it since it gives the targeted audience exactly what they wanted, just as games like Dark Soul did. If the dev wanted to, he could have very well showed every single infos on the game's mechanics, the reason he didn't is because LonaRPG is a sandbox RPG, as such the player is expected to discover things by themselves and make their own guides.Let's agree to disagree.
