In one case the change is forced upon (Sure, if a dev would follow the ToS then there wouldn't be a change at all). In the other case it is just normal development process.
See it as it is, if you would play LRH after it is finished you wouldn't know what change the dev made (forced or not). You would only see the product as it is.

Also forced change, maybe expect some extreme cases, on a creative work will interfere with the author's vision, thus they are not the same as change that aren't forced (be it Patreon, the players or any other)
