Serious question, building a bike and have a choice of 3 motors locally. 74 inch Knucklehead, 88 inch Shovelhead or a 900 cc Flathead. Which would you choose for a retro style chopper?

Well..., I guess Flathead is the oldest design, but most folks agree it develops less power. The knucklehead was the first big innovation in HD's engine design. The panhead and shovelhead are generally regarded as the most reliable. Personally, I don't like the look of the panhead or the flathead, so I really don't know much about the pros and cons other than I don't like 'em.

I guess, if it was me, I'd go with the shovelhead for overall looks, performance and reliability.
