Turkey is also just an older american english insult for like foolish people. We adopted it as an endearing pet name in my family, after hearing my frustrated grampa one day say "We'd have been here sooner if not for all those turkey drivers" Which to my at the time teenage self and my preteen sister, was so ridiculous that we just started calling everything turkey. "Oh no the turkey batteries in the remote died" and from there just morphed to affectionately calling each other and other family members turkey.Did you just refer to people from Turkey as "Turkeys"?
