I think you may need to replay the game from the start again. You seem to be a little lost. The story that the MC is telling someone on the PC starts with Joey, Ann and Vanessa. If it wasn't for Ann, Alex wouldn't even be in the story because the MC wouldn't know her. Clearly Ann and Vanessa are the main pillars of the story. Ann and van are what keeps the story moving forward. So I'm struggling to understand how wtf you mean by "losing narrative control" when the character is a big chunk of that very same narrative.

Well, firstly if polls are an indication of how much content a character should have, if we take the poll in this thread for example being in first place with 24% doesn't mean that the majority of players like her best. Quite the opposite: 76% of people like some other character first. My favourite character is Emily, but if I can't have Emily scenes I would much rather have scenes with literally any other character than with Ann. All the other characters combined don't come close to 76% of the scenes currently in the game. Not even close.
Currently, there are 57 scenes in the game's gallery, out of which 26 are with Ann if I'm not wrong. Way over 24%.
19 scenes with Vannessa.
12 for all the others including 5 one-off scenes with secondary characters, which leaves 7 scenes between (for me) the best three girls: Alex, Emily and Jenny.
(I've checked it and Alex photoshoot scene isn't even in the gallery, so let's make it 8 scenes between the three of them out of a total 58.)
Proportionate? I don't think so.

Secondly, I'd love to see another poll asking "Who's your least favourite girl?" That would be interesting.

Finally, and this is something that has been discussed a lot here, people who like Ann primarily do so because she plays a certain role in the story they have a fetish with. She's the nerdy girl they can corrupt, share and turn into a filthy whore.
If Alex played that role, she'd be their favourite. If Amber was a main LI and she played tha role, she'd be their favourite, etc.
And very importantly too: you get more fans the more screen time you get. It's not fair to compare her popularity to anyone else's.

It is through Ann that you even get to know Alex. So if there was no Ann in the story there would likely be no Alex either.

And clearly the ones that can provide any sexual content at this point. Jenny is a bit of a prude that will likely only bang you if you're in a relationship with her and considering you just met her it's gonna take a little bit. Emily is the MC's fucking sister. That one's gonna take quite a bit of time. And Alex? She may be an insta whore but I'm pretty sure she's a virgin or at least very inexperienced sexually so that may take a while too.

No, you know Alex from her Instagram page, plus you forgot the scene where you talk to her and she becomes your neighbor regardless of whether you're in a relationship with Ann or not.

Technically, the MC gets to meet Alex because of Emily, not Ann. Emily meets her first when she moves in the neighborhood and nudges MC to visit her, because she thinks that's a cute girl and possibly a good girlfriend for MC.

The MC only learns that Ann and Alex are friends either later when he goes out with Ann and meet Alex outside of cinema, or through insta picture with them both on it.

I have been the Patreon for the game for the last 1-2 years and I also bought it from Steam and supported it financially. But now I am tired of the game constantly having Ann's sex scenes. Instead of making the game "Long Story Short", I wish it had been called "Ann Story Short". The main girls of the game may be Ann and Vanessa, but in the last few updates, Ann scenes have become annoying to me. There should be more Emily, Alex, Vanessa scenes in the game. I think Ann fans have had enough of the scenes.

I think the main reason Ann gets so many scenes (besides being the main LI) is because she's the only girl who has a story, or at least had an attempt at one earlier on in the game. Vanessa kind of does, but not really at this point. And Emily/Alex/Jenny don't have stories for the most part.

Emily being randomly naked and jerking MC (and even Joe) without much of a thought and Vanessa's mom banging MC for no apparent reason is a pretty good representation of this game's transition from a story game (even a lewd one) to just a lewd game.

I think Ttrick has unintentionally over scoped this game. I'm not sure what exactly the endpoint of this game is meant to be either. The characters, besides Ann and Vanessa, aren't really connected together. There isn't an overarching plot tying things together. Ideally, he'd cut some of the more niche routes to get things back under control. Right now it's pretty obvious he's just making it up as he goes.

tbh the hyper focus on Vanessa and Ann is why I haven't played this since V 0.8 ( when I first played the game). Kind of a game I just let cook till I feel like it at this point , still probably will buy it on steam at some point still good scenes even if I don't like the direction of the game.

I'm also a soon to be former patreon of this title. I'm dropping my support for the reason stated by many before: too much focus on Ann.

Not only I don't find this character especially attractive (there's something wrong with her neck-body-head proportions) but her story is the less interesting and even absurd, I might add. Even wearing the rose-tinted glasses of porn logic, she goes from zero to slut in no time, with the simple reason that "everyone expected her to be the perfect girl". In addition to this, it seems she hardly needs the MC's input to descend into corruption and it's also not possible at all to "control" or limit this process.

At least with Vanessa, there's a comical/pathological side to her lewdness but she stays true to her character.

A wasted opportunity, imho.

Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite games (got it for free on Steam, well technically, I've been a dollar supporter for like a year, so got a key), I just wish every update just wasn't purely focused on those 2 all the time. Every update the gallery is pretty much them. The other girls are side content, but he doesn't see it that way, but the proof is in the scenes and how much time is devoted to those 2.

I understand what your saying but...have you considered the fact that you and "many people" are actually in the minority when it comes to Ann? I've seen 3 polls about this game so far and Ann was in 1st place in 2 of them and in second on the 3rd. She seems to be the favorite of the majority as far as I can tell. I'm not on any Discord for LSS so I may not be entirely correct but from all I've seen this seems to be the case.

Ann's sex scene viability is a function of writing, it's not innate. The problem I and suspect others have isnt JUST that bobblehead is an unlikable and unattractive main character, it's that her progression relative to others is so insanely out of balance.

On the MC-LI front, MC and Anne do everything under the sun from quickies to rough to anal while we're at a thighjob with Emily in a 5 year old game. On the ntr front it's even worse, we see ann in lengthy gangbang scenes, and Emily has a handjob? Give me a fucking break.

And perhaps all this could be excused if Ann was some work of art that brought all the people to the game.... i got news for you, from an objective daz standpoint, ann and van are both much lower quality characters than Alex or Emily. Sometimes i find myself confused at how a creator could put so much effort into some of his characters and far less into the ones with lions share of screen time.
