Personally I don't care what Ann "had her eye on" if I'm on a path where I reject her then she's shouldn't get to dictate anything. She certainly shouldn't get to cockblock the MC and Alex. This game likes to act like Ann is your default girlfriend no matter what path you take.hoes before bros

I feel this game forces vanessa on the player more than Ann. I treat vanessa like shit and she's still sleeping with me forcing me to follow her.

Not sure what choices you picked but I believe that all of Vanessa's scenes are optional. You have to spend time with her of course because she is a part of the main story. But one thing she would never do is cock block the MC, quite the opposite.
It's not even about spending time with certain characters that I have an issue with, it's when other paths and choices feel meaningless.

I don't hate Ann per se, actually I play her paths, she has some features that makes her unattractive in my eyes, (not talking about the paths you can go with her)
She looks on the edge of Loli / underage, that is for me the biggest red flag. (there is a pic with her in this thread with a more grown up body and damn she looks hot!)
She is like Justaphase already said, forced as your default girlfriend, overriding all choices you make when you are not pursuing her. (second red flag)
then at last not least, due to all the path branches, she got extreme more content than the other girls, which are no less interesting an well written characters.

The first time MC looked at social media, Alex Mc thought he had to have a good relationship with Ann to have a chance with Alex. When I entered the little fight with Ann, I thought I wouldn't have a chance with Alex.
At first Vanessa is not very nice to MC but she improves and becomes MC's best friend. I ended up liking her, she is naughty but also honest with MC from the beginning.
In the "AnnAngry" route, I thought there would be no chance with Alex, but it was all Ann's setup. That naughty Ann was using Alex as bait to lure us into her honey trap. She somehow knew MC had a crush on Alex. The smart and calculating girl used this to ensnare MC.
A lot of people thought Ann was pure and innocent at the beginning of the story, but now she's shown to be cold and calculating. That's why I never liked Ann. It was my survival instincts kicking in.
Could it be that Alex was pretending from the beginning and was in a column against the poor and innocent MC?
"AnnAngry" is the route where she seems to really like MC the most. In the corruption, she changes so quickly; I get the impression she wanted MC as her willing cuckold to go with her.
MC didn't even have time to break up, she changed her clothes on her own, decided to post sexy photos on social media, and at the motel, she's the one talking about the two bulls at the motel door.
In the romance, she's always avoiding MC with the excuse of studying and doesn't bring MC home because her parents don't want her to date and focus on studying. But if she's sharing, Chris is always sleeping over at her house, so her parents don't see a problem.
And another thing, because she never slept at MC's house, she sleeps at Chris's house and doesn't see a problem?
The shared routes are too cuckold for my taste

Vanessa annoyed me the first time I played through this game, but once I played again checking out other paths she grew on me. Doesn't hurt that she has some hot scenes in the game, moreso than Ann imho. I think she is written pretty well, I've known people like this in real life where my first impression wasn't great, but I eventually became good friends with them.

Objectively, she isn't just proportioned like a child, she's proportioned like an exaggerated child. Vanessa also has the same problem though to a lesser extent. As evidenced by your mention of the side characters, he is very capable of making attractive normal-looking characters - which is why it's a shame the game revolves around the two most cartoonish looking ones.
Same - her writing is great, and captures the 'queen bee' role well. This is the reason I give Vanessa more of a pass in the looks department; her chaotic neutral disposition is the soul of the game.
I kinda want a Christmas special where Ann goes overseas, however she doesn't tell the m.c she's leaving, but instead tells the m.c she has a surprise for him at her dormitory. The m.c goes, but when he opens the door it's not Ann he find, but surprise it's Ivy he finds wearing some Christmas inspired lingerie with Christmas inspired pasties.

I was actually in a similar boat. Except it wasn't that I found her all that annoying. I just didn't care for that level of whoredom and she was really weird looking. Like although the renders have gotten better and I've gotten used to her. Vanessa looks like someone took a doll head and stuck on a normal person's body. But after playing Ann's vanilla route yea I'm bringing it up again! and being disappointed with that. I eventually said fuck it! and went all in on her. She's now my favorite character.... fun wise. Her whole route was an adventure.
Even got a moment where she actually calmed down for just a bit. Being able to cuddle up with her on the bus. Which was nice. Don't gotta be on 100 all the time.
