First: this game is quite new, it'll need time to get more popular, and second: I think using Unity instead of Ren'Py will not help the popularity of this title, I don't know why they choose that engine.

A bit of advice: it's cool that you're working on a spin off, but it's known that Devs start working on a new project before they even finish one and we don't want this game to become another abandoned game among the others. Also, it's been months since the last update of the game.
You are indeed correct but the spin off will help us establish the main lore of the game. Since at one point we found out we had created a deep lore that needed to be told in an engaging manner to allow us to develop the story we want to tell. We are currently getting ready to start full production of the project and we will be bringing updates more regularly than we did before.

I'm just wondering why the lore needs a spinoff to explore instead of just showing everything in the main game.

It doesn't. Spinoffs are things you make when you already have lore that people care about exploring.

That reminds me of when BioWare used the lore of the books to flesh out characters like Kai Leng in ME3. He was terribly written in game because the devs thought players would automatically read side projects which would do the work for them.
It´s not as much as a spinoff in concept as it would be in a project with an already established lore. But we think, if we went ahead with the original story we had enviosioned, the lore dumps could mess up wit the pacing and clutter the experience. Therefore, we have decided that the best way to approach this problem is to start the story in an earlier time frame so the exposition can be more organic. And then progress in to the main story that we had introduced previously in this thread.

Why not have a glossary for people to read up on the heavier lore snippets in the game? Sort of like how RPGs will highlight a phrase and if you hover or click on it it will expand in detail.
So basically you're adding a prologue that will set up all the heavy lore in the game then start back with the main game? Will it be the same MC and will we make impactul decisions?
We are thinking of ways of implementing a non intrusive glossary in the main game as a way of recap so you don´t have to sit and read dozens of lore entries. We want to show, not tell and we are trying to do our best in that regard. So, you are correct, we are pretty much creating a prologue for our lore in a playable form.
The MC for the prologue will, indeed be a different one, but the decisions you will make in the prologue will have a very big effect in the next chapter. Whatever you do in the prologue will shape the state of the setting for the first chapter and the first MC will appear in the future as well. So once again it will be your own decisions that will define how she´ll behave and what will be her objectives and story.
