I'd been idling wondering why in the LaS universe that it was decreed by the Inquisition (Nobody expects the Inquisition!) that Mira marry Eric and getting pregnant when is Sara available, an experienced, established, single independent woman who is definitely not averse to having a relationship. I then realized that it's likely to do with Elise's mother, the leader of the Seers.
Bloodlines appear to be an important part of their culture. The fact that Aiden became a Highseer in his younger years likely helped influence his ability to marry Elise; perhaps he was even chosen by her mother for her. We don't know further on Elise's family whether she has siblings but Aiden's bloodline has Sara, himself and his daughters, with Sara herself possibly contributing to that line in the future. Elise, daughter of a leader, could be an only child for whatever reason. In that case, her daughters would be the only route to continue their grandmother's bloodline. I'm also thinking that their genetic diversity having been devasted by the Hunt is also a factor in all this.
Of course, there is also the question of why immortals would not simply have more children, and how the aftereffects of the Hunt ties into all this. This would be dependant on how Veqvil develops the backstory of the game.
