Happy anniversary! at least we didn't miss it like Mc and Lacey!Funny thing. True Lacey maybe closer to what Mia imagine than you think. After all actions speak louder than words, and so far Lacey did very little to change her mind.
There is some truth to her philosophy. If she can easily push you to do something that means you want to do it, if you resist than you dont. Sure, she may be personally unhappy with the results but it was in the name of truth. Lacey`s you could`ve asked me to Mia could be same gaslighting as you could`ve stopped me( Baldy kiss) to MC. Maybe thats why Lacey keeps Mia around, she doesn't really blame her.
So if Lacey really not who Mia thinks she is she need to do better.
Edit
Happy 100th page anniversary, everybody !
That philosophy is VERY dangerous and harmful, you can find plenty of hurt and weak people that would offer very little resistance.
Even people that are easily manipulated, seeking validation or harbor trauma (such as Mc with his abandonement trauma)
Lacey fell in most of the categories.
It is monstrous behaviour, you should be very mindful of who you have in front of you, the pimp doesn't give a fuck.
Look at Kelly, now on the bench.
Lacey during that period of time was in her usual live by the day mode or even survival mode.
She is mature enough to not place blame on her, because in the end she let that happen and she is very find of her pimp, but looking from outside we can't help but judge the situation and it doesn't look good.
Always the voice of reason, saves me a lot of time typingI think the narrative mostly shows that Lacey was doing what she was doing Junior year for reasons somewhat outside of sexual gratification. The important thing to remember is that each answer for the games for her favorite sex memories were not because of the sex, it was the implications of the sex. If Lacey loved the sex/being a slut during Junior year, then I'd agree with you. However, like I said, it seems like that was a by product of being in a spiral of harming herself as a game her and Mia played
I see it exactly as you, even though during the first and second phase the "I am doing it for MC - I am succeeding step by step" feeling was strong.
M_nvl "Such an obedient girl"
M_nvl "Would always stop to announce that she was doing this for you"
M_nvl "Awww, isn't she just adorable"
M_nvl "Know what she did after this?"
MC_nvl "What?"
M_nvl "She picked up her phone and hit play"
MC_nvl "What was she listening to?"
M_nvl "You singing her fucking happy birthday"
M_nvl "Again!"
M_nvl "God she must have listened to that crap four hundred times in her junior year alone"
M_nvl "Cried like a good little future wife"
M_nvl "I hated hearing about how much she missed you"
And here you have it folks, our favourite abuser at work!
Which do not change the concept one bit and I addressed by saying "this is what hurts MC the most".I know that part, but you could just have inserted the 2 lines above from the script you just highllghted...

Which is NOT what hurts Lacey the most or why she is in that state.
