While they have nothing to do with each other, the supernatural now is canon.
As far as we know, Lacey could be the descendant of a sucubus and thats why she loved sex so much in college and we could not argue against it. She could have trillions of unborn ghosts from the college parties haunting her (you know what im referencing) and it would be in universe. Mia attitude finally makes sense, she is a fucking demon.
All in all we are mostly joking, overanalyzing and hoping that all is just a minimal reference, but from the posible choices, one that makes the supernatural canon was a weird option. On the Mountain top, the other with the realistic setting was a better choice to intermix and connect.
I understand that the conexion ends with the new MC past job, but everything that happens to this character is now in universe somewhere on the other side of the country.

An easter egg would be Theodore getting a call from Electro Billing....or there being a picture of say, Mia's grandmother somewhere in the house.
Do you see the difference? One is a fun little reference, one is literally part of the very narrative and plot. They are decidely different. One is a small nod, one is a connection to the universe they are set in. So yes, they very much are in the same world, very much are connected and as Dios mentioned, the supernatural in the world is now very much canon in both stories (whether it never appears in L&J or not).
As I like calling shit.....I'll wait for Brimley to have an office in Seabrook...you know, as it's on the east coast

Damn i didnt catch that, its actually really possible. And if the supernatural walk around there as they are close to Primrose maybe the Lacey and Damian had more than we though...Nah, see, this is the problem, now we have to include some mumbo jumbo supernatural thing to the motivations for the mess that are the characters and its bad decisions.
Lets just forget about the supernatural and keep the game a realistic one.
Mav, a call from Electro Billing or a picture of Mia grandma would still be the same, it would conect both worlds, MC finding a bill with the name Electro Billing and trying to remember if he heard of that company that would just be a easter egg since it wouldnt set in stone, maybe it was a fake bill and someone was trying to scam a few bucks.

While i greatly enjoy and respect all of the regular posters on here and mostly agree and respect their analysis, it has gotten to the point that a simple referance to this game in another causes an almost paranoid and conspiratorial response. It seems lately like the old term "to deep in the forest to see the trees" would be a valid description in a lot of the analysis of late about almost every possible thing or person in this game. Lets face it, this is a game well written in the space of adult visual novels in comparison but is in no way a pulitzer prize winning piece of literature and isn't ment to be.
Games include easter eggs all the time, hell i recall one AAA game where you could find Dr. Who's phone booth hidden in the game. No one started making claims that the game was now connected to that universe and it was cannon that you could jump threw space time. I think the worries are drastically overblown at this point.

The dev is a professional writer...'of sorts'...he words things very specifically with intention. That's his style. I refuse to believe he does not know what an actual reference or easter egg is. I explained it in the post you quoted. There is a huge distinct difference. *sigh* listen, i respect and greatly appreciate almost all your contributions and posts, i really do. But if we are getting so far down the rabbit hole that even simple game announcements on the devs pateron are some kind of misdirect/consipracy/has some devious hidden intention, we may be going to far. From what I have read (I might have missed some messages), aside from some jokes, people are just reacting to the implication that Augusta and L&J are in the same universe, and since Augusta has supernatural elements, it would mean that the universe where L&J happens does have these sort of things as canon.
A simple logical connection.
I would have preferred a self contained universe, but I am not the one writing so at this point I wouldn't even mind having the Augusta MC being the monster tbh, or rather, I didn't vibe with the new game at all so at least that would be interesting.

I don't mind the two worlds being shared. Nor do I mind them interacting from time to time allowing some means to explain things that can't be properly done within the main games themselves (timing, external help or interests, etc...)
As long as AHFWG doesn't inject its supernatural elements into L&J's story, that L&J reside completely within normal psychology and reasoning to Lacey's actions (and others), behaviors and responsibilities, then it won't be an issue to me.
I don't want the FMCs to be able to excuse their actions, I want them to have to deal with the consequences of them, recognize the level of pain they have caused the MC (and they have all caused a serious fuckton amount of pain on him). MC has his own issues he needs to grow into understanding, and while he is to blame in terms of some inaction or decisions that did not weight his own well being first, he is fully and completely justified in his disgust/hate, though as some debated, that hate should extend to some characters that for the life of me I can't understand how they are treated as they are now.
As long as AHFWG doesn't inject some means for these antagonists (and I view most of the female cast as such) to "justify" (ala standard NTR reasoning) the betrayal with supernatural, then I am not too worried.

This is a great way to put things, I feel exactly the same way.
But I might sound cynical when I say that you have too much hope about the consequences, I hope as you do that we get some reckoning, some soul searching from everyone and in the end some reaction from MC or the world to their actions, it has never happened yet tho.
Mia scarred MC forever and is the best friend, she brought drugs to a drug addict while trying to break off her best friend marriage and she get invited to vegas, she cheered for sexual assault and no one ever makes a peep.
Anna betrays MC badly and all she gets is a "I am disappointed".
Hell, even Lacey 2 which at least understands how shitty she has been behaving and keeps herself accountable (best act 2 character, fight me) doesn't see any consequences aside from sleeping in the guest room once.
But lets hope together! I can't wait to see act 3.
