Important to note the last line I left? Whatever this other side is....it existed long before she went to college and became a sex toy. So how related to sex do we actually really think it is?Lacey definitely loves him to an unhealthy extent, but one thing that we could speculate comes from the other side lines of dialogue.
L "I don't really know how to make all of you understand this."
L "There's this other side to me."
L "Maybe Mia gets it? But maybe not."
L "I'm not happy or proud of it."
L "And it's not... healthy."
L "I've got so much trauma, so much pain."
L "And the only thing that kept it in check was [MCFirst]."

It sounds like it could be a general hatred towards men , after everything she has been put through with her dad , Jared and just any other men that have fucked her or try'd too , it could be that she thinks all men are just the same sort of thing
Now I would say she doesn't think that of the MC but it could be that as that hatred of men grows the MC is slowly being dragged into that by the sheer default of just being male
Also when she mentions that Mia might understand it would fit with her hatred of men but the maybe part of it could be because Mia is softening up and accepts the MC so her hatred is subsiding
