I'm pretty sure China doesn't allow any form of pornography (although some got leaked in the country lol hypocrite. or maybe just bad control or corruption or just the company maker is sneaky as fuck but how would they make money under strict porn control though?) There is more to it then just that there are many mentions of the "green hat" through out chinese history but among the most famous is that a famous scholar came home to find his wife cheating on him while wearing a green hat, apparently the wife would wear a green hat as a sign to her lover that it was a-okey to come over for shagging.
The other part that you mentioned with relatives was that prostitutes where seen as a lower class and to denote this class all prostitutes male or female were forced to wear green hats this also extended to their relatives to some degree. But the main enforcement of green hats was on the prostitutes.
Still when it comes to this game I am actually curious with how the plot will go since the MC from my understanding is the same in all three games, though the time line is in reverse so game 3 is the pre-prequel, 2 is the prequel and 1 is the present.

Without VPN. The next few days will be extremely messed up for them. If he/she tries to look at porn, history, other country websites, the list on and on.
