depends how much someone values family . I don't think that's fair over a one time mistake ( as long it isn't something fucked up / illegal) when they are young and are family or someone you have known a long time. Be a different story if you barley knew the person

She "just" ruined her relationship. And set herself on a path where any meaningful relationship would be impossible for her in the end.
And if she couldn't rely on her family to get it into her head (deeply, on a emotional level, not just as abstract understanding) that what she did was fundamentally wrong, then on who could she rely?

of course cheating is wrong but the way you are talking about is like she did something so unforgiveable she should be locked in jail or not part of the family anymore. It's not so fucked up to not be a brother / sister or friend towards them if A the person did the cheating didn't do it to you , was family / someone you known for awhile. and B if it was their first time doing such a thing be different also you need to take age into account young people do stupid shit like cheating. Now if they cheat alot id probably act like a brother but more like one from afar when it comes to their own personal drama unless it's serious.
Also context of the person's personality , relationship towards you and the person they cheated on as well what they normal are like as a person matters. Cause guess what people make mistakes so to me it's not a good reason to not act like a good brother. They have to really do something unforgiveable towards you or someone close to you. Now you can say they could of cheated on your bestfriend and that still wouldn't be unforgiveable cause im not picking a best friend over family unless they do something worst than cheating.
You got it backwards. You should NOT cast the person who made error off your family. Even if that person belong to jail. The exception to that rule could be only due to something unimaginably monstrous. And of course creating (even 1000 times in a row) could not be a reason to that.
But "act like a good brother" does not meant that you have to be indulgent. Yes, saying "it will be okay" feels good. But pursuing your own gratification right now, you damage the person dear to you in the long run.

well we have our own different opinion on the matter and like I said earlier we just need to agree to disagree on it. Cause I don't see why you can't say everything will be okay while also telling them they fucked up and maybe give advise to fix it or do better in the future. ( that's just my views and opinion)
