I think maybe you're being a bit disingenuous if you're suggesting that only scenes are content, not basic game features like saves, text skip, etc. Especially since I asked how much of the game was locked behind whats essentially always online DRM, not scenes.
Maybe I'll buy it when its finished and my money actually gets me something tangible.
Online features may be good in some cases:
1) We fix all the bugs in hours, and users don't need to upload the game again.
2) Saves are always supporting backward compatibility and work in the next versions, and you can play on your desktop, then switch to your phone and continue the game.
3) You don't need to download the client to play.
4) It works on all devices and operating systems
You also can use your free save file and gallery file from the offline version, and move it to the new version of the client, when it comes out. So it's not like all RenPy games where you need to play the game from the start every time.
