We hope you had a giggle!
We would like to know if there is a particular magical creature you'd like to meet in the world of Lust Academy that hasn't been shown or mentioned yet! Let your imagination loose, and share your ideas in the comments! We'll choose popular answers and try to add them to the game!
And, as usual, here's the list of what we've done in the previous week:
• Finished 71 renders with Samantha, Haley and June for version 4.6.1
• Retouched 74 renders to emphasize their magical atmosphere
• Finished 7 amazing 60fps animations for version 4.6.1
• Finished creating new skins for Character BIO.
• Finished planning the Audrey's storyline for version 4.6.1
• Finished fixing some minor bugs.
That's it for today! Stay tuned for more information, and have a great week!
Sincerely,
Bear in the Night team.
I'm in the same boat. They've got really great renders but christ, to call the dialog robotic would be a compliment. Which sucks cuz I like the direction the story is trying to go but the moment characters start speaking it just takes me out of it. Can't even bring myself to just watch the H scenes anymore. With 4 seasons, I doubt a rewrite would ever happen at this point. I seemed mostly fine in season 1 but like you said, seems to just get worse with each season...I'm part way through season 3 right now and remain absolutely amazed that the quality of the writing, or possibly just the translation from whatever language this was developed in that isn't English, has never improved. In fact it might be getting worse.
I'm doing one of Kayla's scenes right now and I swear to god that not one single sentence that either her or the MC speak sounds like something a person who speaks English would say. Sure, the intent is there and the meaning can be sussed out if you try, but it's just so clumsy and broken.
The credits page seem to suggest that the major developers of this are Spanish or Latino of some sort (the CEO, game designer, and "chief writer" all have hispanic names.) suggesting that maybe the game was first written in Spanish or Portuguese. But there are two other writers with very English names and like 90% of the game script comes across like it was fed into google translate and they just went with whatever it spit out. It really needs a couple of native English speakers to be something like a translation supervisor or proofreader to ensure that the script sounds like real English human dialogue and narration. Even just the use of the title "chief writer" is odd because in English the term would be "head writer" or "lead writer"
agreed with the writing being terrible despite the plot and H scenes.. its something that i jut couldnt sit through any more.. dropped off start of season 3 when i realised the dev team just wasnt interested in making it better... former patreonI'm in the same boat. But we do it for free and don't have Patreons supporting usThe dialogue isn't the best but better than most dialogue from this site.
People here aren't having their work supported by patreon donors pledging who knows how much per month and taking in $15-20 US a pop from sales on Steam or GOG or wherever else it's being sold. If you are expecting people to pay for your work or pledge money to support you then you should be putting in a reasonable amount of care and consideration into all facets of the game, especially the writing when it's a narrative-driven work. If this was still like a season 1 beta then fine I could excuse it as "we're ironing out the kinks and fleshing things out and we'll do a polishing pass when it's closer to being done" but like the other poster above said, at 3 seasons completed and the 4th in progress with the writing getting worse as time goes on it's clear this isn't an issue of priorities or time. It's just that they don't care because people will say it's better than nothing. The dialogue isn't the best but better than most dialogue from this site.
Each season is downloaded separately.Do you need to download the seasons separately? If I haven't played before, can I just download s4 and that will be everything?
Bah! Ok thanks, I'll go back and get s1 going then. Each season is downloaded separately.
The thing is, school years aren't seasons, but contain three or (with Summer school) four seasons. So far the game has been one year per 'season'. It's an unfortunate copy from television terminology, which also affected comic books; you used to see stories like Batman: Year One but now it's typically 'seasons', and rather than "editor's edition" for different reprint comic books mainly showing pencil art (but oddly more expensive) that was underlying colour in earlier printings, and might have extra notes, they say "director's cut", when comic books don't even have directors. I wish books, games, film/television could use their traditional terminology instead of falsely assuming only television-based names will be popular. Each season is downloaded separately.
