The characters are not related to the MC. One of them (see N35t0r's comment) is fairly early on, if you visit the massage parlor in Dale and pay for the right type. The instances I mention below only showed up with a release at the very end of Season 4.

I remember playing this game years ago, but I stopped because there was no sex. Someone told me it was more of an "emotions and depth with the girls, blah blah." Is it still the same? Are there any sex scenes?

Nemo56 says there are plenty... I mean I wouldnt say there is heaps of them and the grind to get there can be quite annoying, but the real downside, is how same same and boring all the sex scenes are.
That being said, I have finished S3 on steam and am now playing S4 from here. I have transferred the save files, but cant see them in my load screen, is it possible to play the steam saves on this downloaded version?

what grind are you talking about? Clicking the mouse? That the chars get to know each other before hopping into bed? There are no stats, nothing to grind. If you want, create a macro that keeps hitting the space key (that's what I did to get past kengthy conversations). Even in sandbox mode everything except the duels is event based, nothing to grind.
About saves ... there should be no difference between the versions. But you don't see the saves on the load screen. After using the S3 ingame function to transfer a savegame, start a new game in S4 and select the option to use the imported savegame.

I noticed update this month without new version number; what's different/new? Recently someone said there's too much in-between sex scenes. I don't think so: a point of a visual novel is also story but someone mentioned one can skip if you really want (why not just view a pr0n video site if you don't want much/any story?).

If you want to play it from the beginning you should start with season one as every season is a standalone chapter, and you can export the save from one season to another
