I would call it communicating. Most subscribers like it when developers tell them what is going on.If I have gathered what they are trying to say correctly it isn't their game being sold on Steam that bothers, it's them complaining on Patreon about the problems they face getting their games on Steam.
It seems quite a few devs have taken to complaining to their Patrons about what they have to go through with Steam.
I have also read developers who gave long dissertations on their methodologies, the problems they're having in converting to new software, how they have to pause because their relatives are coming to visit, how they have to deal with this or that debilitating illness, how they hate modders, etc. etc.
If anyone doesn't like it, unsubscribing is always an option. I have done that often, but never because some developer wrote about converting their game to Steam.
