As a gay men, I feel it's kinda true about the men's part,
Like no matter if I take the slut/sub route or the hero/dom route, I don't just want Alastor, Bradley, Cicero, Detritus, Egon, Feraldo, Garth etc, I want all of them.
And to make certain characters "Love Interests" just means they get more contents.

Even for games where you Have to pick a character, normally there'll be a Harem route.
It's what makes these "porn games (Gay or not) continue to add more shallow characters" works.
It also explains Why it tends to hv "edgy / toxic" YAOI games (The most famous YAOI games I know are very much so).

But as a straight female who's into bara games, what do you actually enjoy / looking for in the likes LO or LD?
The other player said she felt very misplaced, maybe it's not about writing oversight, but expectation mismatch.

About the statement, it's kinda true. Women like harem too, but love triangle is more popular in fiction. Women want to be chosen by the best man, I mean pure innocent love is a little boring. Men need to be a little dangerous, toxic and powerful. I like if there's choices where you can form a stronger bond with a character, but I don't mind if can be with multiple. I prefer Yaoi because of the edgy light/dark romance but I like Bara the way it is. The more male characters you can fuck, the better. Overall, I prefer BL over otome because otome games are more made for teen girls and I want dark, mature stories with taboo themes and BL have it all.

Personally, I am very much aware what I am getting into, when I choose to play a porn game. This is fantasy and a pure indulgence of things that can be sexy, but I would never want to engage in in real life.
In an ideal romance I am not interested in harem, I understand the appeal of being the one ultimately picked by a powerful man, but I actually despise the toxicity that is so common right now in romace books. I like the himbo types. But that would be pure romance and for me that desire can be unattached to sex.
In a porn game I like harem routes, as long as everybody knows (kinda like ethical polygamy) and I like the toxic edge. The most important part about the love intersts themselves is thta they are fully fleshed out. There needs to be an actual character for me to be interested, even if I would not under normal circumstances be attracted to that.
Shallow characters just suck all around.
Depending on the game, I also enjoy forging deeper connections, but those games are really hard to come by.

IIRC the poll was set-up in a rigged way: All other options were Aliens, only Arthur was a human
So yeah, it's this way cuz someone made it this way

TBH, it's more entertaining for me to see all the Tricks dev uses to milk money, than the game itself at this point.
