Quick Update on Lust Theory - Season 3 (v0.8.4) - More troubles...

Hey guys...
I really hate to be a bringer of bad news but, it's part of the job I guess...
On that note, it's time for a little honesty hour from the team.

Remember last week’s delay for Lust Theory S3 v0.8.4?
Well… we’re still not ready to release it.

Not because of bugs, not because of renders (okay, maybe some of them), not because Carol hacked our build (this time)…
but because we ran into major story issues.

And since we’re deep in the final stretch of development - shaping the endings, tying together every choice, loop, consequence, and all the chaos MC caused, we cannot release a story update unless everything lines up perfectly.
If something doesn’t make sense now, it will break everything later, and we can't end Lust Theory that way.

We had to take a step back, re-evaluate some scenes, and make sure it all connects the way it’s supposed to.
In other words:
We’re polishing the ending of a multi-year story, and we refuse to half-ass it.

We know waiting sucks, especially when we’re this close to the finish line.
We’re really sorry for another delay, but you have to trust us:
you wouldn’t enjoy the new update that doesn’t fully work or has a story hole big enough to swallow the whole Lust Theory universe.

The good news?
Everything is back on track, the fixes are underway, and we’ll give you more info soon. ❤

Thank you, truly, for your patience, support, and for letting us make the ending worth the journey.

Have a fun weekend!

XOXO,

Of course I'm not happy by the delay per se, BUT I am happy they are trying hard to make things right and to provide a story that makes sense.

We all want the story to make sense, and not a rushed inconsistent finale.

Embercat I really loved this update! The BttF stuff was well done and things like that always help with my immersion and just overall enjoyability. Similar parodies would be welcome if you have any more ideas!
Thank you, that means a lot. I cannot guarantee more scenes like this in the future, however, as I am no longer on the Inceton staff and was removed from post yesterday 21/11/25.

I'd like to take the time to thank everyone on here for the kind words you have given in regard to my writing for S3 of Lust Theory and Lust Bound Season 1. Your support was much appreciated.

Sorry to hear that Embercat. Your writing has been fantastic, with clear love for the characters and their relationships.

I hope that the reason for no longer being writer and part of the Inceton team was amicable and not for other reasons.

Hopefully whoever takes over is able to continue at the level that you were writing at.

Nooooooo... I really loved your writing, how you gave DEPTH to Lust Therory's MC at last...

Why did they fire you? :WaitWhat: You was bringing a lot of value to the games for which you were writing the story...

I'm really sorry to hear that. Both for you and for us.

I wish you good luck in finding a more forward-thinking publisher who can appreciate your potential and give you the means to make the most of it, to the mutual benefit of both parties!

I'm looking forward reading some more stories of yours. Please keep us informed about your future works.

Well that actually brings me to another piece of speculation about the whole development of S2.

So we know S2 changed course during development and there's a clear weird out of nowhere shift into nonsense midway through.

The writer for S2 started S3 and S3 actually starts GREAT, just like S2's goodbye stories are such an insane quality jump from the ending. Then all of a sudden, that same writer is GONE, like midway through the beginning of the game and there's a huge period of flux before suddenly Embercat is brought in. And now, he's gone too.

So here's my take: Someone's been messing with the writers. I'd say the writer for S2 was trying to take things in a more serious direction and the goodbye stories were hers, but someone higher up decided it needed to be more of a mindless fuckathon so they went in there and fucked with her shit to add the weird out of nowhere fuckfest at the end and her goodbye stories were relegated to optional content.

She took it on the chin and started work on S3 but got hit with the same bullshit and either dipped or was removed. That's why the woman is relegated to 3D artist now and you will not get an answer out of her on anything, she's a ghost and that's probably because she's rightfully bitter about what happened and maybe even more that SHE took the flack for the shit that was put in his story. (Though she's closer to the dev team, probably works there IRL as opposed to being a contractor)

Then they didn't know what to do with themselves so they brought Embercat who did a really great job...Exceeept, he was also pushing story and character forward at the expense of just random braindead smut (that's the supposed "major story issue" they're having, the fact that someone wanted to actually tell a story). Lo and behold, out he goes.

I'm not holding my breath for S3's ending now, expect the same kind of horrendous trash S2 devolved into, for pretty much the exact same reason except this time we might know what it is.

Oh, the hell no. How could they remove Embercat from the writing on S3?
"letting us make the ending worth the journey " - now i feel like this will not happen.
Obviously not. That was just PR talk. (And part of it, the part about them having continuity issues, was probably a straight up lie.)

Tbf to them, they do feel like that's what they're doing to an extent, it's just that their view is that a story that isn't a constant fuckfest is "boring", so they're working to make it what they feel is "better", which by all accounts, is closer to what happened at the end of S2.

Now, they're also rushing for a christmas release so I don't know how much they'll actually have time to change, but basically someone else will be writing the ending and we won't know what the original plans Embercat had for the story were.

What a shame Embercat is gone. The storytelling for S3 was world class and I had high hopes for Lust Bound as well... now all characters will go back to being mindless fuckbots like the end of S2 I guess...

That's really bad news, I think you were doing a great job with the storywriting on LT.
Best of luck for your future.

What, nooo what the fuck!!! But why?!?! You were doing a stellar job!
I swear, I'm one of those people that tends to skim through the text and get to the scene, but not with your dialogues! What the hell?

Thank you to everyone who has commented for your words of support. It means a lot, really. I know I never stopped going on about it, but my vision and goal were to bring a richer, fuller story to Lust Theory and Lust Bound, and to create nuanced, memorable characters, something I strive for in all my work and writing.

I really hope Lust Theory's ending turns out okay. The team has been left with my original ending plans, so they may yet take that path; it's hard to say. For now, I will be focusing on myself. Losing my primary form of employment so close to the holidays is rough, and I'll need to find something to pay the bills sharpish.

But I want to continue working in AVN development, either finding another role and company that will take me on or forging my own path and learning to create my own AVNs. I am exploring options and seeing if any developers are looking for writers.

For now, my main creative outlet will likely be a return to the story series I started on LITEROTICA before I was hired by Inceton and became too busy to continue it. Anyone interested in long-form erotic fiction can find my work there under the author name Wordforgedsoul. My series Hero Worship Summer follows a man taking a summer vacation with friends whose daughters he saved from drowning when they were teens.

It follows my philosophy of writing 'heat with heart' (my personal mantra that informs all my erotic fiction writing), and I hope anyone who checks it out enjoys it.

Yeah I’m really hoping the ending of LT3 still works out well in the end and doesn’t devolve into mindless fuckfest like S2 did, but I’m not holding my breath honestly. I’m expecting the side characters to get some love again, which is nice, but also takes the spotlight away from the main girls.

The fact that Inceton have your original ending plans is a good sign, although what they do with it is ultimately up to then, but I have a feeling there’s gonna be a stark contrast in writing quality once 0.8.4 hits. And of course, I really hope they don’t rush the ending for a Christmas release, they’ve had two weeks delay now, logically they would let development continue at a normal pace and bleed into Jan 2026 if needed, but alas I don’t think that will be the case, especially considering how I felt about Thot on Trial and how it ended.

And I’m really hoping this doesn’t affect Lust Bound overly much either, your setup for the story in that game is also fantastic, and I really hope whoever takes over continues along the path you’ve set up.

Damn, just thinking about this whole thing more just goes to show how much this sucks honestly.

The sort of saving grace is that Ellie's story will probably conclude as intended.

I would expect the changes to start with Alice's route that will be the second part of the update and then bleed into the finale, changing all the answers around Carol's scheming and Alice's mom and all that, and of course subsquently, the ending choices might change as well, most likely to be less conclusive and allow them to milk the series further if it gets voted for a fourth episode in the polls.

As far as Lust Bound is concerned, Embercat was the writer. So that's basically shot. They might have the overall outline for his story but obviously they won't have the details for routes, choices and all sorts of stuff that only lives in the writer's mind or that he intended to do but hadn't yet sent their way, on top of potentially wanting to change the tone of the game, just as they are more than likely gonna try to do with LT3. Hell, it might even get shelved for all we know.

Basically, I'd keep my hopes way down and hope we end up pleasantly surprised than anything else.

Coupled with the repeated delay of the next release, it doesn't bode well for the future of the game.

If it were just Embercat being let go, I might assume it was a purely financial decision, but delaying the next release for story reasons and getting rid of the writer sounds a lot more like "creative differences". Considering that Embercat's posts about Season 3 were most of the reason I hadn't decided to not buy it after paying for and playing Season 2, it seems like I probably have creative differences with whoever's going to be making the decisions about the rest of Season 3, and will not be paying for it.

God I really hope Lust Bound isn’t shelved. That’s probably my most anticipated Inceton game, and it’s halfway through its development. Although that hasn’t stopped Inceton before, Limits of Sky got cancelled, so there’s entirely a possibility.

But I think the fact that the announcement that 0.8.4 was delayed again, and Embercat telling us they were no longer employed with Inceton happened on the same day, tells me that the reason for the delay (being that there were major story issues), is a pretty good assumption that someone disagreed with the direction of the plot somewhere. And I do have a feeling that we’ll see the change in writers for the next update.

Yes and that disagreement is probably what led to S2 ending the way it did and the writer for that game suddenly leaving S3 before Embercat joined: "Less story, more porn logic." Therefore, I'm at least bracing for the possibility of a repeat of the drivel we got at the end of LT2.

We'll see how it goes though, for all we know, it's a Christmas miracle and the new writing ends up being stellar, someone else takes over Lust Bound and does a great job or whatever. It's just up in the air right now.
