I'm glad you were able to correct some of this stuff and so soon, so great work. Truly.
As for this one...
I'm sorry, I might come across as rude at one point or another, but I need to talk about this because what you just said sounds so tone-deaf to me. I can't just act like it didn't happen. This is a big deal. That scene is undeniably rape and no amount of previous attraction between them changes that. Your response is very disappointing.
This moment undermines the MC’s arc of self-improvement you just started. If him getting beat up was "lame", this is traumatic and right after he expressed his desire to grow and stop being seen as a "loser." While being abused obviously doesn’t make him a loser, the decision to just gloss over it hurts the story in multiple ways. If we are supposed to act like it didn't happen, then why even make that scene? It will have no meaning, no consequences, nothing will come out of it.
Kiera’s actions destroy her character. She was fun and likable, but this makes her downright irredeemable for me. Even if she was still a bit drunk it’s no excuse. This scene made me hate Kiera. First character in this game I actually hate, which is such a shame because I didn't want to hate her, but this scene forced my hand.
The MC might not know, but as a player it’s impossible to "act like nothing happened" when the MC’s first time, which could have been meaningful and special, becomes a traumatic event swept under the rug. This could have been an opportunity to explore the MC’s response to abuse and to a serious breach of trust while connecting it to his growth. Players could then choose if they want to still pursue Kiera and forgive her (which would need a lot of work to redeem Kiera, it would be a huge part of her story for many updates) or close her path and have the MC hate Kiera for breaking his trust and abusing him, helping his growth of standing up for himself (which would be the normal response). It’s really disappointing. I was worried about how the next update was going to handle this, but I thought it would at least be treated as a serious heavy moment and give more depth to the story, even though I wish that scene just never happened in the first place.
Ultimately, it's your game and your story, but I just can't agree with this decision. These are just my thoughts, so I hope my perspective helps you at least understand why this feels so wrong and maybe you'll see it differently. Take care.
