Any new artwork? Any substantial addition to the lackluster, supreme, complete, utter lack of story or plot? Wondering if it's worth downloading...
Absolutely not. BUT!! you get to spend about 5 minutes including downloading it for a smidge of text, and maybe some regret after but let's see how things go ya?Any new artwork? I've no idea what was Hyao's initial plan of LD, but clearly you are expecting something LD is not - it's not a VN you can read from start to end.Hyao shouldn't of even started writing a story if he had no clear mind as to how it was going to end, who would buy an incomplete book that kept changing stories every 5 fking seconds.
Wouldn't it be better to have if they brought in more people than just hyao and a few others in making this game? I mean if they split up the workload, bring in more writers wouldn't this work a lot better? I'm sure he'd be well off overseeing the whole thing instead of this small content every month.I've no idea what was Hyao's initial plan of LD, but clearly you are expecting something LD is not - it's not a VN you can read from start to end.
It's inspired by “Flexible Survival” or “Trials in Tainted Space", while the latter has strong plot to drive the game going, the former does not.
There are also tons of games just use itself as a platform to sell monthly contents (which they might've not even planned a closure), and it seems LD became one of them.
LD might started with good plots, Hyao seems not plan pursuing it.
LD's struggle rn, more of content draught, even as fillers, they are not meaty enough.
No idea about financial/exposure aspect, but if he stops putting out "monthly 5 minutes' read", using 3 or 5 months to work for a more substantial updates, it's actually better.
5 months' of 5 minutes' read will only hv negatively impacts on the game - which is already going on for a long while![]()
Yeah that's definitely an approach, “Flexible Survival” is like that. Not sure if Hyao is trying to figure things out.Wouldn't it be better to have if they brought in more people than just hyao and a few others in making this game? Or as you say making the from a month to month to a 3-to-5-month update, personally I'd end up procrastinating the whole time.![]()
For that there should've been a story, and there hasn't been a story in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time, just Patreon fanservice for the cashcows/whales.Hyao shouldn't of even started writing a story if he had no clear mind as to how it was going to end, who would buy an incomplete book that kept changing stories every 5 fking seconds.
Well, if you've made something and it's on itchio, let me know. I would like to play itI mean, just cos you write a story and haven't finished it or progressed on it doesn't mean you don't know what you wanted to end on. I was working on a dating sim, 7 romances, different plots, different backgrounds, different endings, and even 3 story mode types which varied those endings (fantasy, fiction, fucked. Basically "everyone's happy", "some are happy", and "Dramatical Murder" respectively).
I had the start. I had the end. I even had major plot points, sex scenes and prologue stories you could unlock as you play certain paths. But the middle? I haven't written shit in 3 years. I have a bunch of other projects with the same story: have the beginning and end, have all the plot points, haven't touched them in ages. A Resident Evil fan game, a corruption prison porn game, an RPG with a massive amount of customization and sex scenes (I got the customization finished too!), a psychological horror, a Salem game about how evil can be those proclaiming to be good, and these are just Renpy projects I can remember, we're not even including my RPG Maker projects I failed...
Stories aren't just "you started so you will finish", this isn't Mastermind. Even with an army of writers and every plot point perfected, it still requires a lot of rewriting, padding and detail. It's draining. ._.
I admire you wanna make a good + finished game.I mean, just cos you write a story and haven't finished it or progressed on it doesn't mean you don't know what you wanted to end on. It's called Ocean Whispers. The name was originally a work in progress but I started developing a plot around it so it stuck. It's not much of a demo but it's on there. It's a gay furry thing though, just incase you're not into that. Really ugly graphics too, I have no drawing talent.Well, if you've made something and it's on itchio, let me know. That's just the thing, I do actually have a single release on itch.io. It's two days of the Student dating path, plus I think day one of the teacher path. It even has functioning achievements (which took two days to learn to code properly... Fuckin' VPGrids...). It's the only thing I've posted online and I honestly thought I'd get back into the groove, but any time I got remotely close to trying to write again, my desire was stymied. Corrupt HDD, broken laptop, massive stress, exhaustion, too much daily work, ill pets, busy trying to deal with other drama, I can never find the time or will to write anymore. The last thing I wrote was a script for a Crash Bandicoot games review (all five, played in full) on PS1 and that's currently locked on my old laptop given I can't access the HDD without a USB connector given the old screen is fucked. -_-I admire you wanna make a good + finished game.
Maybe I'm not the man to say this, but hv you considered to push them out then play by ear? Maybe they are not as failures as you thought, maybe they just need a little push, maybe you'd gain some inspiration to keep you going.
We all know developing game is difficult, even if it's not working out, there're tons of abandoned "fun projects", nobody loses.![]()
