Game updates often change the internal structure of the game by adding new content or altering existing mechanics. Saved files store information about the current game state but are based on old data. If the game tries to use an old save after an update, data mismatches can lead to crashes, freezes, or incorrect behavior, as the new version expects a different data structure. This makes old saves incompatible.

OK - but start from beginning every (small) update doesnt make fun!!!

I have the same problem. Extracting the .zip file to my hard drive shows the same error. It says "Error xyz: path too long". I add a short screenshot of the error message. The other text in that window tells me that an error occured during the extracting process with the code, shown in the screenshot - and that I should look for help to solve this problem.

I have the option to skip this file, but then the next will appear with the same error message. When skipping all the files that causes errors, the game would not start.

I understand what you mean, but I don't want to start over with every update, it's not fun at all.

I am done with this, poorly made hints system, only able to find hammer, i tried the ladder, not usable, tried backdoor (locked), basement (locked), attic unclickable, this games piece of shit. I have deleted this game.
