My impressions of the third episode.
Unexpectedly, the narration is mostly on behalf of Leo, Maya's brother. A pilot, an engineer, and just a handsome guy who likes to embellish his adventures. Whether he really womanized all the beauties of Lindaria or made it all up we don't know, we'll have to take his word for it. Unreliable narrator in porn game. Wow.
Nami is only concerned with the health of her forest, and there's not much to say about her. Thief Tula is looking for something valuable and important. Intrigue. Even though I'm not a huge fan of furry hares, I have to admit that visually Tula looks marvelous and very cute. This is one of the most beautiful characters in the game. And she also has the ability to bend men to her will, and this in a patriarchal society where all the leaders are exclusively male. This bunny could rule the island if she wanted to, but what does she really want?
Hunter Horg looks bigger and stronger than Raj. He could be a more reasonable chief of the tiger tribe, I think this guy would cede half the forest to the Akami and stop the war. And a marriage between prince Brok and princess Gerta would have brought the wolves and tigers to the strongest alliance on the island. Alas, the mild-mannered big guy won't risk challenging the evil chief.
As soon as Vishka appears, she finally steals my heart. Despite her cruelty and calculating nature, I can't help but sympathize with her: she cares about her tribe, doesn't rely on the whims of spirits and ancestral customs, is smarter and more astute than Brock, and will stop at nothing to win a war. I suspect the authors are making her a future main villain, and that's the kind of villains I love. After she let Leo leave... Bravo!
The further we move through the story, the more questions we have. Why did the voice of the dark god in Maya's visions match Leo's? Why didn't the volcano spirit come out to talk to Leo? Could it be that Leo is not Leo at all, but the Lord of Nightmares who has taken his form? What is Toula looking for? I'll be very disappointed if the authors leave these questions unanswered, but so far they've managed to keep the bar high.
It's a pity that most players hardly pay attention to the interesting, albeit slowly developing plot and comprehensive character development, which is not typical of games of this genre. The developers could have just flooded the player with pictures of boobs and dicks, and that would have been enough for most.
Now for the claims. The artists of this project are great, everything looks bright and juicy, respect for that. But they obviously have no idea what the place of the helicopter crash looks like. The only fallen tree we see in the sexy scene with Nami, and to understand what kind of wounds of the forest she heals, we have to study the background with a magnifying glass. But these are all petty quibbles, visually the game still holds the bar.
I don't understand the claims of some commentators who are indignant that Maya was relegated to the background in the third episode. Changing the protagonist is an unexpected decision, but why not? Maybe we'll be able to play as other characters in the future?
