Ci-en blog's progress report (Mad Island Post #93) is up.

Pertinent points (progress made after the reaper update):

1. A lot of time was spent debugging issues with workshop NPCs, so not much overall progress was made.

2a. Work went into developing a "Visit Another Person's Save" feature. There are plans to give (Dark Souls-esque) tokens for Visiting (talking to NPCs) and Raiding (killing NPCs). Tokens can be exchanged for items but no game-changing must haves so that people who aren't interested in this feature don't feel pressured into interacting with it.

2b. Work also went into developing a "Dialogue Editor" feature. The goal is to let players edit non-story dialog (ie. banter) of NPCs. Things like them talking about people they like or hate, and how they talk to the PC depending on whether they like or hate the PC. Related to 2a, the player can also edit lines their NPCs will say when another player visits their save.

Unfortunately 2a. and 2b. run into localization issues with players seeing another language if they visit a save file of a player using another language, and the whole thing can get even messier when Workshop stuff are involved... so this whole thing has been shelved for now until they can figure out a way to solve the issues.

3. Work shifted towards a "Rescue the Girls Hanging from the Native Boss" sub event. The Native Boss will be made to respawn after loading a save, so people can continue with this event even with preexisting saves. (Yay, no fiddling about with cheats or save-editing needed! Probably.)

Three possible routes are planned:
a. Save and recruit both girls.
b. Recruit only the blue-haired girl.
c. Both girls die.

4. Four new upcoming h-scenes are on the itinerary:
a. Man x Blue Hair (normal)
b. Man x Blue Hair (rape)
c. Man x Pink hair (normal)
d. Yona x Large Young Man (normal)

Bonus: This month's bonus artwork (for Ci-en followers, no subscription fee necessary) consists of two animations:
a. Blue-Haired Girl in a neutral pose holding a broom.
b. Pink-Haired Girl in a dancing pose holding a sword.

They both have all their limbs intact (not even prosthetics) and their clothes repaired. Pink Hair has one eye closed throughout her animation though, so could be an injury?
Someone have to tell the devloper, we need a more slot on dye machine so we can dye full cloth set at once, it's hard to dye all 7 set of cloth same color one by one.

blue hair? we talking about the bosses that has 2 girls hanging on it back right? we can save them..?!!
That was my first thought, man. I was like "man, they're really cute and it sucks I can't make them my new waifu's because they look better than 98.1% of all the native chicks" (the de-aged old woman being the exception; she's one of my favorites).

But I guess we're going to be able to save them in the new update. Kinda wish the two devs would focus on adding more content to existing npc's, but I ain't complaining; new content is new content.

Picked this game up again after not playing since v0.16 (got up to the spider boss). Had a few comments/questions I hope people can help me with!

1. Moral - any way to urgently raise it? My Goku-level NPC has unrequited love for an NPC and crashed out, he one shots everything and there's no way to stop him.

2. Food and water - I know supposedly putting food in the food box will let NPCs go eat it themselves; however, (related to above) how do I make sure it's the low moral one benefiting from the +moral foods? Additionally, do NPCs drink from the water collector? I have half my NPCs thirsty/hungry all the time but they don't seem to go drink from the water collector - do I need a well?

3. Sex - my Goku-level NPC may be crashing out because he can't have sex? I can't initiate sex with him using Yona; what is the reason? He's the son of my male PC and a female Native. As a matter of fact, is there any way to avoid this unrequited love/NPCs getting too horny?

4. Inventory management/crafting - has anyone figured out a good way of managing these? The UI seems very finicky, I just tried to build a raft, had to figure out if I had any rope stored anywhere, which meant I had to figure out if I had any fibre anywhere, turns out I didn't have it so I had to go chop a dozen small trees. What I'm doing it just storing iron in the furnance, wood in the wood bench, body parts in the body part bench etc, but there's tons of miscellaneous stuff (e.g. crab shells) that I have no idea where/how to store.

I might just post a direct translation of the Ci-en post for those who are interested. Worth noting down near the bottom he says it might take at least a month, even if all goes well.

Progress Since the Last Update

This month hasn't been very successful.
After the first update, we encountered several environmental bugs with the Workshop NPC feature that prevented the main game from loading, so we've been busy fixing these issues one by one.

Once that's settled, we've been working on things as usual, but there are still a lot of issues, so overall progress isn't going smoothly.

■ Visit Feature

This feature allows you to visit other people's save files.
For now, we've made it possible to go back and forth between save files and receive items exclusive to the visit feature.

・Visit Mode
Earn tokens by talking to NPCs.

・Raid Mode
Earn tokens by killing NPCs.

When you return to your village save file, a chest containing the tokens you received will be generated...
That's about it. We'll be able to exchange these tokens for items. The items to exchange aren't ready yet, though...
It seems like many people aren't interested in this feature itself, so we won't be making it possible to exchange for particularly important items.

■ Dialogue Edit Feature

This feature allows you to edit the dialogue spoken when talking to NPCs.
You can change dialogue for normal conversations (liked person information, disliked person information, when they like the protagonist, when they dislike the protagonist, etc.), and also edit the dialogue spoken by the protagonist when in visit mode with the visit feature.

These features have localization issues.
For example, if you visit the data of someone whose dialogue has been edited in Japanese, only Japanese will be displayed.
There is no automatic translation function, so...
We are trying to make it possible to upload save data to the Workshop for the visit feature, but allowing data in multiple languages to be uploaded would cause considerable chaos.

Since it seemed like it would take some time to stabilize these features, we decided to put them on hold for the time being and focus on creating sub-events first.

■ Rescue of girls hanged by a native boss

A sub-event in which you rescue these girls.
The native boss is designed to revive when loading, so you can progress through the event even from your current playthrough. I wanted to make it simple, but the flow just wouldn't come together...
I had a hard time coming up with a plot until just recently, and I've finally started implementing it, starting with the features.

- A route where both girls join while still alive
- A route where only the blue-haired girl joins
- A route where both girls die

There's also a love scene planned for the blue-haired girl.

I created the rescue system and the basic actions of the two girls in between working on the plot, so I don't think it's that difficult, but there are a lot of branching paths and conversations, and H-scenes are included in the events, so it might take about a month even if all goes well.

The H-scenes I plan to implement are

- Guy x Blue-Hair (Normal)
- Guy x Blue-Hair (Rape)
- Guy x Pink-Hair (Normal)
- Yona x Tall Young Man (Normal)
I think it'll be something like this.

If I finish early, I plan to work on the visit feature.

I’ll be honest, this doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Kinda sad to hear they used time on this instead of story or H content but oh well.

at this point I'm tired of new NPC's, they're all pretty shallow-made anyway
I kinda agree that the last few npcs they added have started feeling like collecting Pokémons, but otoh saving those 2 has been a requested feature for a while now so I'm surprised they've gotten around to adding it.

In the end they'll indeed respawn the boss. Honestly, its the least disruptive solution. I was kinda hoping we'd have to keep pink in a wheelchair or something until you could give her new limbs after unlocking the android stuff, but it seems from the previews that the goal is to rescue them intact.

Me neither. It does seem odd that he himself says there's not much interest in it, so they won't be putting much value in it either.

I do like the idea of the dialogue edit feature, as long as I'm able to add my own text. Currently everyone is rather mute in the game, so the opportunity to add dialogue sounds fun. And everyone gets to grow the world and add flare to their own personal liking, so I think it's a great idea. I hope we can add individual dialogue for NPCs, not just "all native females will say this".

Same. If they wanted to do the visiting thing then just do it later once you have less you need/could to do.

I'm semi-interested just as a way to visit other people's saves and take a closer look at their constructions. There's some really impressive images that get posted on steam now and then and I'd love if they posted the visit code or whatever so you can go check them out yourself and maybe learn how to reproduce them. The raid stuff I have 0 interest in.

But how would it work? Many use mods now. I myself use over 150 of them, none of which I have uploaded to Steam. None of them cheat the game either, they're decorative and functional (like an in-ground pool for Mermaid). Which means if you wanted to browse my save, then the mods I'm using would need to be packaged up with it. That introduces it's own problems.

On the other hand the raids interest me. Not the grim reaper stuff so much, but the normal and Halloween raids allow people to challenge themselves in a repeatable way, as well as collect high level NPCs to tame. Not to mention outfits, resources, orbs, weapons, etc. I'd love to see a new raid that follows in the footsteps of the standard raid but with a new flavor, like the Halloween raid does. Sprinkle in there some uniques, like NPCs, outfits, weapons etc, and I'll be a very happy man.

The Ci-en post contains two samples of custom dialog as screenshots. The translations for what they are saying are:

In the first a chicken is saying "Cock" to Yona.

In the second Takumi is sitting with a naked harem of two girls and two adult female natives around him. He looks up at Yona with his tongue hanging out. Takumi is saying, "Huh? There's a customer on my island??"

I really like the idea of an list we can edit for a character's dialog. It should include straight text, as well as keywords for personal information, like:

"Did you want to do something later?"
"You can tear my clothes off, it you want."
"I hate <RandomHatedNPC>." = "I hate Sam."
"Honestly though, <LovedPersonalityType> people make me so hot." = "Honestly though, Shameless people make me so hot."
"I hope you know, I <ManRelationship> Man." = "I hope you know, I love Man."

They would then choose from the list at random if "Talk" was chosen in their menu. A lot of time could then be enjoyably sunk into expanding your NPCs dialog to suit their individual flavor and your own tastes.

It would be even better if they also occasionally talked to each other, just spouting lines from the list.

Best way to describe it, a NSFW palworld. It's a sandbox survival crafting game. You can make babies, craft cool weapons, build houses, and recruit villagers to help you on your crafting journey. It's truly a game of all time. Totally worth the 20 bucks. Or you could get it for free on here. I recommend buying it though, the devs deserve the money.

P.S. forgot to mention the beginning of the game is very slow. The cool weapons don't start showing up until you beat the boss known as the boss native. He's basically gate keeping all of the cool weapons. So ye, it might take a while to start unlocking the cooler weapons that the game has to offer.

That's for the dev to figure out (or scrap the idea if they can't). For steam mods it might be possible to download them while loading the save. I'd say it's acceptable if the feature simply doesn't load items that come from offline mods, since those aren't officially supported.

As for the raids, I think the ones the preview talks about are about the player raiding other player's saves, kinda like in Souls games.

Oh, sorry. I thought by "the raid stuff I have 0 interest in" you were speaking generally.

Spam feeding carrots. Do it manually by highlighting him then right-clicking the carrots in your inventory.

2. Food and water - I know supposedly putting food in the food box will let NPCs go eat it themselves; however, (related to above) how do I make sure it's the low moral one benefiting from the +moral foods?
+Moral food has no effect once they go into food boxes. -Moral too, for that matter. All food, once placed inside the food box only contribute their food value, not water or moral or any other effects. You are effectively "feeding" the food box to increase its food value, and other NPCs (or you) can "eat" from the food box later, drawing on its food value. There is no record of whatever items going into it.

Additionally, do NPCs drink from the water collector? I have half my NPCs thirsty/hungry all the time but they don't seem to go drink from the water collector - do I need a well?
Rain collector is broken and don't work for NPCs. I tried spamming the whole work area with them and they don't work either. The glowing blue circle is a big fat lie. Use a well. If you can't scrounge out the iron ingots needed for the well then you can manually give them water using water skins or bowls, to tide things over until you can craft a well.

3. Sex - my Goku-level NPC may be crashing out because he can't have sex? I can't initiate sex with him using Yona; what is the reason? He's the son of my male PC and a female Native.
To initiate sex between a PC and NPC, you need a positive relationship of at least 51 between that PC and that NPC. There must also be a H-animation enabled for that interaction. AFAIK none of the Yona x (normal/variant) Young Man scenes have been implemented in-game yet, so you can't initiate consensual sex between Yona and a grown-up son of the MC. (DLC sons might be a different story, I think?)

To check, click the NPC while controlling Yona and see if there's a sex option under Talk. If the NPC responds with "not yet" (or rarely "..."), then there is a H-scene and you just need to get their relationship to 51 and above. If Sex isn't even an option then there is no consensual H-scene implemented yet.

As a matter of fact, is there any way to avoid this unrequited love/NPCs getting too horny?

Click to highlight the NPC, click status from the pop-up options, click the "Order" tab on the NPC's status menu, then click
on "Allow love" under comunication (sic) and make sure it is disabled.

Actually, come to think of it, do that for every NPC and don't ever bother with the hot mess that is the relationship system. Unless your colony devolving into spontaneous Rimworld-style chaos is your thing. As a bonus, you now don't have to bother with stupid buggy houses either.

Just enable them back selectively for NPC you WANT inter-NPC relationships to happen (either positive or negative), after screening for personality types.

They will still get horny, but IIRC it shouldn't be a problem with Allow Love disabled. You can still lower lust using the human toilet (staff it with a random female captive, you don't even need to befriend them first), and for Life Orb farming purposes it's in fact even easier with Allow Love disabled because they have lower thresholds for using the toilet with Allow Love turned off. (And I think they get +1 moral from it too)

Stuff crafting mats into storages (cloth/spider/wing). Stuff inside them area available for crafting from nearby workbenches. Regularly top them up with a fat surplus so you don't have to go hunt down mats later. If needed, exploit the pause functionality to place storages/workbenches closer than they are normally allowed. (Just not too close to the point you have problems ctrl-clicking them.)

Put misc. stuff into a chest (or central collection of chests) in a dedicated spot so you know where to go look for items you couldn't find a use for previously.

I remember as a kid there was a console sims game called "The sims 2: Castaway". Of all games I played, Its closest to that. But comparing it to "The Forest" wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

While the demand wasn't super high, you can see even in this thread(a loooooooong ways back by now) people were asking for save files to check out other people's island. I imagine it was a common enough idea among various player bases that it reached the devs and they figured to themselves it would be a simple enough feature to implement. Not the first time they bit of more than they can chew but i'm sure they'll get their act together. They do seem to want the game to have a community to it, hence the support for mods and this visit/raid idea they want to implement. Don't be surprised if next they want to make this an mmo.

Me, i'm at the point I just want a new island to explore with new events and secrets, but i've always seen that as dlc for the finished product, a sequel or the tinkerings of the mod community. That's why i've always been in favor of the game getting done, events, items, h-scenes can always get slotted in but the major thing i want to see won't happen till you tie nice bow on this. But I got patience to spare, i read One Piece don't you know, in fact we're in a break week right now.
