Well... it looks like some half-baked, janky Unity survival game. The beginning is kind of bad, and the mechanics are so-so.

Why do so many people play this? Does it get better over time? I saw a lot of screenshots with a lot of stuff on those, but it's hard to tell if there's any meaningful gameplay behind all of it.

I've played Don't Starve, Terraria, Minecraft, 7DTD, etc. This game is nowhere near any of those. At least not in the first couple of hours.

Any survival game like this is only as fun as you make it. I’m personally not a fan of these kinds of games but I love this one. So just the opposite of you.

Actually play the game for a bit, check out some of the beginners guides if things aren't clicking, play a little more, remember this is a porn game not to say you lower your standards but to keep your expectations in check, you'll eventually see the merits of the game, might even want to start over again now that you have a clearer image in mind about what to do and how you want to go about doing it, or not, can't expect everyone to like this.
But this game requires time, even though you can get to the good bits straight out of the gate you wouldn't know this without prior knowledge. If you're a new player the best advice I have is to take your time and fuck about, if you find yourself sticking it out you probably like the game, good thing there's a thread full of all sorts of random stuff you'll love to know right here.

This is indeed a Half-baked game since it's not even finished yet but Janky? Really depends on how people felt imo, at least I didn't felt the jank or didn't register the jank you mean by it.

Beginning is hard/bad for sure given your movement speed is awful, as you level up the movement speed wouldn't be a major issue + you can have red flags to point of interest that you find yourself travel back and forth between, so Yes, the game does get better over time as you level up/figure things out what to do and how to do.
Then again, there's that cheat command made by "esreverreverse69" allows you to mess around like a sandbox or customize how you play your run by making it slightly or just Pure Easy mode
(Easy mode as in give yourself some Levels to increase your own movement speed by a lot to ease up the grind and hassle)

My reasons on liking MadIsland,
1. Able to have Friendly NPCs
Having tons of Friendly NPCs around the place and doing things for you, makes you feel "Not" as lonely, specially when you could "interact" with them
2. The rewarding feeling when you figure out things
I like Figuring things out being able to figure things out or make stuff easier to do in a "Hentai Survival Game"? yea that's a hit for me on it.
3. This Mad Island Forum/Community
This forum is the first time that I actually bother to interact and enjoy my time here, lol
Making post with this post/comment system is fun for me as well which is why I would rather play Mad Island, answering people's question in this forum over Playing Minecraft knowing how lonely is it and how GOD AWFUL setting up a server is...
Side note : this game runs pretty smooth for my old relic gaming laptop, not sure why people mention they got performance issue...

Another core factor you kinda forgot about...

I know some of them got Mods...but they aren't design to "be used"?
As in this is a Hentai game with Sex/Gore element build-in,
I know Jimmy mod exist in Minecraft but that got nuked mostly and other games really aren't design for this aspect in the first place, so this also can be considered as one of the factor people plays it
Edit : The Sex scenes, they're pretty nice, could be hardcore as it has Sleep Rape/Rape/Amputee so it really depends on how people like those sex scenes
As mentioned, this is a WIP game, not done yet, so some NPCs can't be interact or you felt it is lackluster on it

The other point I guess I can see why people there is so many people here
F95Zone community itself, I mean I wonder how many people actually brought the game, those who enjoyed it would buy it, those who played it, give it a few hours and lost interest? wouldn't buy the game in the first place
So this is in some ways an advertisement for this game.
For me? I have not brought it(yet) I'm not gonna lie on that, maybe in the future when I'm not paying off Someone's house-debt and got spare money to buy it off from Steam.

It is what it seems to be. A pretty solid open world survival craft, on a website where most games are Ren'Py VNs or cookie cutter RPGM games. It is worse than most games of its genre in how much you'll need to experiment before stuff starts working. For example, I only noticed that shields can be used to block late in the game. And a few people only noticed the "perfect block" mechanic when I told them.
It's not much of a breeding game (there is no heredity worth talking about), and its castle-building potential is rather meh, but there is a good amount of content - buildings to build, items to craft, bosses to fight and so on.
Note that this is a game from the authors of Black Market, and it got even worse. So if you're into cannibalism and guro, this game can provide. Or you can safely ignore the mad stuff and it would not impact your gameplay much.

Speaking on just the porn it comes in 3 flavors
Consensual-build a village with your tamed natives and character npcs and enjoy casual sex, you'll get the most content here
Rape- male mc exclusive, rape and pillage the village WAARGH!
Defeat rape- pretty much the style for Yona, she gets beat and raped by just about every major enemy, some mini bosses and human mobs.
Animation quality is pretty great if you like the subject matter.

Somebody here have ever tried to run this game on winlator or any kind of PC emulator on android ? I mean I'm thinking in buying a phone with a great processor just for this (SD 8 elite) but I'm not sure if it would even run much less the performance.

sad, looks like we will have to wait another update for more content. Next one will get an uploader banned. Fun ass game once you get the hang of it

Why does NPC keep standing without working even when assigned work in the territory? I mean, they do work; but most do nothing besides standing near it.
