Whenever I see someone darker than tan in a preview banner, I always click just to see if the obligatory "Is that a black person!?" guy already arrived. 2020 and we're still bitching about this[...]
I think people are a bit triggered that way because of the current climate (what hollywood, BBC and others do with a lot of historical stuff). Indeed, all you see in the medias is that whitewashing is bad, but few people bat an eye when in Beauty and the Beast one third of the local population is black african or when Achilles is black african, just to name a few. Let's not forget that most people really view the past as depicted in fictions (yes, they do): the mass medias in the entertainement industry are highly influencal in that. Being irrealistic is fine if it's on purpose and clear for the viewer (like in 300), it isn't otherwise. I find a bit ridiculous those with that justification: "but blacks weren't uncommon blabla", they were uncommon, some existed, but they were highly uncommon in 13th century england, especially if we're talking about sub-saharan africans and not about moors/arabs. Saying otherwise is historical revisionism.
A better defense is: it's a fantasy world (in a porn game). It's true. Once again I think people reacted this way not because of the content of the game alone but because of the current context in which we're living.
Case closed. The game seems nice btw, great arts.

Sherwood Forest and Nottingham are both definitely part of England.
Well, they are in "reality", but this isn't reality. Didn't you read the very first screen where it explicitly tells you that this is not medieval England? It is very clearly not intended to be actual England - Marion even describes fae in the woods.

This thread is becoming more like the controversy arround The Witcher 3 with no black people and the Kingdom Come Deliverance with no black people but it's loyal to lore, instead of the game itself.

About the Game Made Marion

Love the Robin Hood fiction world that was created so far
The art style looks amazing
The characters so far seems interesting in their ways and personality
Like the story is very well written

Hope to see more than just male relationships for Marion.

Good luck to the team behind this amazing game (Demo)

I have a very limited number of fucks to give about the title and Robin Hood lore in general, so I won't and can't argue the validity of the "or Marion" bit, but there you go. Funny, 'cause another guy linked to it to argue his point about it being misspelled.

With that said, as long as the dialogue itself is good, who gives a shit? If you look for historical accuracy in a porn game instead of just well-written interpersonal interactions, then I'm sorry, but you're out of your fucking mind anyway (and not talking to you specifically, Meena, just in general).
I often find people who swear, do so when they know they are trying to look good in the eyes of others, but know they are wrong themselves. I'm quite sure you don't care either but for those who do, the name Marian stems from Mary and Anne. :)

Animations? What the heck are you expecting from a 2D game in the first place?!
lol, There are many 2D games which have great animations. This style in particular usually have -let me use a better word here- boring (imo) animations from my experience.

If you guys want a game with all white people there's already plenty of them here. Or feel free to make your own and throw it on the pile. If the motherfuckers wants to make Little John black, blue, or invisible they can do it. Jesus Christ, I can't even escape this stupidity on a porn game piracy site.

Anyway. I'm not into otome games but I'll try it anyway because the art is nice and I want to see how huge of a bitch I can be and still bang everyone.

Beauty and the Beast? Bad example. No one should be batting an eye over some background characters filling space and voice-overs until the last seconds of film, black or otherwise. But people did do it. You just did it, and you're not the only one with this not so Unpopular Opinion. My literal point was how pointless it is that people go out of their way in these threads to explain why they want to see less black people once anyone calls that sort of thing out. Who cares what the media is doing? It's someone's personal problem if it makes them have a grudge against black people. It's fiction, sweet Satan. There's no point being so hot over it that people try to give a history lesson or feel the need to claw at "The way the world is" to try to rationalize complaining or wanting the existence of black people in fiction to be justified. Just treat black people in fiction the same way as in reality: Sometimes they just happen to exist--stupid and strange to spend any time wondering why. Senseless to want the reason for their existence to be made clear. I'm sure no one who clicked on this was dumb enough to think they were coming for an interactive by-the-book retelling of Robin Hood, especially not with their being a female love interest. 2, actually, I think. Double-especially, after their being a literal version with animals. I'm just imagining people stumbling upon the Disney version and breaking down into wails of "Hey, they weren't foxes! This is wrong and let me tel you why!! First off, the number of anthropomorphic foxes back then--" This just simply doesn't need to be an issue every. Single. Time.

Yeah, how dare we expect historical accuracy? I eagerly await the next installment of Shaft starring Tom Hanks.

What are you talking about “in the public domain for more than 100 years”? Robin Hood is a myth. He was never copyrighted in the first place. Anyone at any time could and can do a Robin Hood story.

As long as the people who want to champion a black Little John don’t whine about white actors playing Egyptian gods, then we’re all good.
And people defend shit 'like white people playing jesus for decades ffs.

Just like there are guys on porn sites who slut-shame, there are guys who can't grasp that these games are fiction and creative works (the better games anyway).

The human species might be amazing when it grows up.

As someone who would care about Witcher or Kingdom Come featuring black people when they weren't part of the original stories and not historically accurate (specifically in that order respectively) you should take a look at yourself if you're bothered by this.

Not only is this based on public domain/folklore (meaning anyone can make their on version, something that's not true for Witcher), not only from what I hear here is the setting specifically not England, nor does it sell itself as historically accurate (unlike KCD), but also you know, it's an adult visual novel.

Game itself looks pretty interesting, might check it out later.

Why put black people in this setting, IMO should have made him an eskimo, too much black washing but people won't complain if it was eskimos especially since they aren't featured in medias. Or even Indian since the Brits once held India.
