As I recall from when I started my Crisis run with the CN mod, you'll need to use the basic arrow of light magic spell (which only costs 1 with the mod) for that first battle. Later you can be more flexible, but initially, yeah, that's your way to go.
Yeah I have 0 mana, even if I choose the "desire to be different (+20 MP)" starting character option...

is crisis mode even worth playing? what all changes?
Not really... The first stage is hard as hell as you don't have nearly enough tools to deal with enemy HP sponges plus reinforcements are a out of whack feature balance wise, but once you are done with it and move on to stage 2 you will just straight up murder stuff without even breaking a sweat (i actually managed to one shot a second boss with a freaking counter while actually trying to lose), and that is the moment the snowball effect happens (even faster if you were smart enough to invest in thunder magic which aside from fire is the best magic tree in the game with a AOE stun spell that just slaughters the normal enemies regardless of how many of them are in a group and the best single target spell in the game which is custom made to slaughter Bosses).

That said by the time you finish stage 2 you should hit somewhere around level 30 or even more which will make the rest of the game a breeze (aside from the EX dungeon which is all sorts of unbalanced). About the only thing you have to watch out for are bad H passives which can and will fuck you up, especially hypnosis weakness which makes it impossible to get rid of different sorts of hypnosis (that one is a one way ticket to having to start a New game+).

Note however that aside from that one hypnosis related passive, it is actually totally possible to finish the game with a totally fucked up Amane although it requires you to ramp up your ATK, MAG and especially AGI to hell and back (learn to abuse the the school track field, pool and both the school and city gym) to compensate the fact that otherwise Amane will get boned if the fight lasts for more than a turn.

To sum it up the crisis mode is just a sort of a challenge thing even though as i said after the first stage it ceases to be a factor.

It might never happen, but I'm waiting for the DLC for this game...
I don't believe in DLC for this game because the developer is trying to make the sequel of that game " "

PS But China's mod is amazing for this game (It's like rebalance + new ideas )

I don't suppose anyone can share the CH version of this h-title, can they? Asking since i'm trying to install the CHmod for this h-title for MUCH more expanded options than in vanilla Celes of course, that and I REALLY want to use a certain mini-mod (allows for a preggy Amane to have a visibly pregnant belly in a good deal of sprites) that, apparently, requires the CHmod to use since I tried using it without said CHmod and I got an annoying error screen when trying to do so. DX

That or someone can just copy their own latest CHmod version of the Celes game directory, preferably using the english translation patch for it, and can be resolved that way, up to those who feel up to doing so of course, I don't mind starting over from the very beginning of Celes, as I think that that's the best way to see how the CHmod changes stuff, not to mention preggy Amane finally being shown instead of being limited to its respective bad end instead, always hated that limitation. >_< (Here's a preview pic of it, for those curious: Note that I did NOT create the mini-mod of course, that belongs to the user "LoveNot".)
And yes, i'm well aware that there's the "tentacle pregnancy" from the first boss, but unfortunately said pregnancy doesn't stick after the h-scene concludes obviously

Thanks a lot! ^-^

And apparently it is the latest version of it thankfully, as this pic shows as such ( The "enisia" bit is for another h-title entirely and as such that post can be ignored entirely as it's not related to Celes in this regard of course.) it seems. Thanks again, I really do appreciate it. ;)
