Is it relevant for the story, to tell your dad, he isn't your dad?
I added the mod to see which variables are set, but doesn't show anything for those few locations where you could say he isn't you dad or he is...
I hope there is a good ending for Charles, i can't make myself tell him he does not have a son.
Just started playing the game, and this is something I decided to search the thread for before continuing.
From what I'm reading in the thread, at the moment trying to confess to him or keeping it a secret doesn't seem to mean anything (yet), but the fact that it keeps coming up implies it might be important at some point. And it does feel like a significant enough plot point that I'd kind of like to know before I get too far into things.
It seems to me that there are both selfish and considerate reasons to not tell him. We could keep it a secret because we're living in his house and taking his money and don't want the gravy train to end. We could keep it a secret because we figure "Well, it doesn't matter now." We could keep it a secret because we still think of him as our dad and we want to protect him from being hurt over it. Conversely, we can tell him because we think he has a right to know, or because it bothers us to keep it secret. All of which may technically play into an ultimate reveal moment later.
Basically, I don't really want to spend the whole game trying to keep it secret from him because I think he's better off not knowing, only to have the story yell at me later for keeping secrets, and present it like I was 100% selfish for doing it. It's fine if a
character thinks that's the case (ie, dad saying "You didn't tell me because you were afraid I'd cut you off!"), but I don't really want omniscient narrator voice or the MC's own thoughts being accusatory and saying "Well obviously, the only reason you didn't tell him is because you were being selfish." Especially if my motivation the entire time has been "I'm keeping this secret from you because I don't want to hurt you, because biology or not, you're still my dad."
I know this can seem like a weird thing to get hung up on when we're basically cucking him, but it's definitely something that's sort of started tickling at my brain. It'd be nice to know if the whole confession thing is just a running joke that's never really going to have any consequences, or if there
will be consequences but we'll at least get to have an option to choose what our motivation for keeping it secret was, or if we're just going to be railroaded into being guilty of something we're not really guilty of.
