I haven't decided. Depending on where you draw the line, there is a lot of old stuff that can be reworked. But between the people who are already past these points in the story and don't plan to replay, and those who don't care and/or notice, how many would replay the game and enjoy not seeing that conversation? Is this worth slowing down development for?
I not convinced in either direction. You could say, yeah but it's mostly this one thing. It never is just that one thing though.
Don't try to please everyone. There's multiple issues at play here.
First is that opting out of content means less content. The more you can opt out, the less game actually remains. Those who want to play only 50% of your game will always end up with a game 50% shorter than what the all-in guys are getting, and as a consequence, it's always going to be harder to keep them satisfied. The more you let them opt out, the more you'll end up with people disappointed with what's left. Opt-outers will always be less satisfied, which makes them louder, and you could confuse them for being a much larger faction in your fanbase than they really are.
Secondly, making everything optional creates massive amounts of combinatorial complexity. You've already noticed how many redundant versions of scenes you have to make to take into account sub/aff routes, lesdom, and other triggers players may have touched. It will massively bog down your development to try to keep everything faithfully compliant with everyone's opt-in/outs. Don't be afraid to drop features in your game if they start taking up too much time. People would rather have a finished game with toned-down ambitions than a very ambitious but abandoned game (of which f95 has plenty).
Thirdly, somewhat tying into point one, you should play to your strengths. Your strengths are what you
like writing, and you should strive to find fans who agree with you, rather than let anonymous know-it-alls dictate how your game should play. People are attracted to content, to scenes, to character interactions, to sex acts. They're not attracted to being able to avoid those things. When you play a game with very specific fetishes, but avoid every scene with those fetishes, you're just a tourist in the game's community, rather than a fan.
tl;dr: Spend your time on content, not opt-outs. Opt-out lovers will always bitch. Avoid complexity. Build a game for fans, not tourists.
