Spoiler for later episodes but i'll say it anyway.
The dad is leaving and giving the house to the MC, he's told the MC one condition of that is he let Beth live there so he's leaving her behind.
Does that scream couple to you?

I'm quite certain this is not correct. If I recall, it's in the script that Beth seduced Charles in a daring maid's outfit. And that he would marry her when she got pregnant. But he can't have kids. He never went to a doctor for it, ot he would have found out that the MC can't be ... Maybe I just dreamt all this.

I believe Dad always had intent to pass Beth to his son as soon as he knew they couldn't have kids. One of those weird selfless acts because he cares about both parties. Alot of the stuff he did was weird for a significant other. It always felt like he had an ulterior motive. Also I think he knows MC is not his kid but he still loves him as his own. Think that was why he and the mother separated. Just my opinion.

is there some reason why my saves are not working ? if i hit ignore it starts a new game. if hit rollback i get the second image. and if i roll back again it shuts down the game.

you used Sancho's mod in the past.... your modded saves won't work on an unmodded game. And he is MIA so the mod is not maintained any more.

Adjustment Mod
Hi...I put together a small compilation of mods, as well changed the default textbox, and included a few UI changes...which adjusts how this title will look and play. These are a few of the adjustments included with my Mod compilation...
Install:
Just extract and merge the mod's game folder with this titles game folder (over write when prompted). Then run your game.exe, and enjoy this title's minor UI changes and added utility features.
Note: This mod compilation should not need regular updates, (provided no major coding changes have been done to the original script of this title)…so this mod compilation should continue to work for future game releases.
As well, a positive note...this mod compilation should not affect game saves like other wt mods have done in the past (avoids corrupting saves).

- Changed the default textbox, to a custom bottom dark shading version (it compliments the dialog text, without affecting the image frame backgrounds).
- Edited the gui.rpy file, reduced the name box size, altered the dialog positioning, etc.
- Included the Universal Choice Descriptor mod (this mod can display on screen some hidden content behind story choices.) Please NOTE <This utility mod is NOT a walk through, but can sort of work like one.>
- Included the 0x52_URM tool, (which can be used to edit or display hidden info behind story choices, consisting of game affection / sub points, or display requirement checks as they happen through out the story. Note: Using the ALT m keys together will bring up the tool's search function.)
- Also included a mod that hide's or display's the quick menu by pressing your Q key. (Cleans up the dialog area of the screen.)
- Included a textbox opacity and font slider mod, (use to adjust the shading intensity of the dialog textbox, and or increase or decrease the dialog font size.)
- Included a custom dialog text outline mod that places a dark shadow outline around the dialog font (makes it easier to see the name and dialog text).
