This was such a good harem game, it's so sad on hold (and let's face it we'll be lucky if we ever see another update). If it was completed I can easily see it being one of my favourites. But yeah, it's a shame the funding wasn't there. The age of AVN devs making games with no expectation of income is gone, which makes sense given how people expect such a higher level of quality now. Honestly I thought the early renders were decent, much better than in other games. But people nowadays aren't willing to open their wallets for anything less than the highest quality visuals. Games with the highest quality visuals but substandard writing get more funding than the other way around, which in my opinion is silly. Yes there were too many girls, but that tendency seems to afflict the majority devs, unfortunately.
Not too many girls, too many choices. The issue is that devs these days have never played properly made VNs in their life and don't know that conventions like routes and the standard number of choices there are in a game is standard for a reason. Adding even a couple of more choices explodes the amount of work you have to do and the complexity of the story and makes things impossible.
Game is called Maids and Maidens, "Maidens" literally means "virgins", yet the main girls are all knocked up by other fucking dudes. Might as well call it step-dad simulator, but without the step-cest which that title would typically imply. Monumentally disappointing.
Yeah, imagine trying to go outside of "standart" and make something better than basically a kinetic novel with "choose your route" type of choices. Imagine a game where choices are actually matter for the story (and not just "cum inside/outside"). Ewwww. Just ewwww.

TBF, maiden hasn't been used to mean "a human female virgin" in a very long time. (The dictionary says that's an "archaic" use, meaning like 100+ years old or used to sound old, like thee or thou.) Realistically, here it just means an unmarried woman, often young. I highly doubt Raybae was trying to dip into old definitions to mean something that hasn't applied in a century or more.
One of the main girls is knocked up by some other dude, and married to him. Unwed means unmarried, maiden means virgin. You say that it's an archaic definition, but the word itself is archaic and not used regularly anymore, so that doesn't really mean anything. Also, the reason it was used to refer to women who were unwed is because they were, at least assumed to be, virgins. There have never been pregnant maidens or maidens with kids.
Honestly feel like the maiden here is meant to be ironic or something. Making a satirical point about how even maidens are in a post sexual revolution society.

Yeah, because "historically speaking" applies to "contemporarily speaking". Whatever. Both Hentai and I provided you with actual dictionary definitions. Just because you made an assumption doesn't mean you're right. And, BTW, dictionaries reflect what the usage of a word currently is. You can use Ye Olden Termes if you want, but it will just keep getting you responses like ours.
When dictionaries define the word "literal" to mean "figurative", dictionary definitions don't mean anything.

As I said: "dictionaries reflect what the usage of a word currently is." In other words, what a dictionary shows is contemporary usage. Again, you can use a term in a way that hasn't been a thing for literally a century or more if you want to. You can also speak in Klingon everywhere online. That doesn't mean most folks will understand you.
Considering that officially this game is "on hold" rather than abandoned (at least according to what dev says), better to just make your own game from the beggining. Ren'Py is a friendly engine, Honey Select (or whatever Illusion game these renders from) is easily available, and making your own game from the ground up is always comfier than rummaging through someone's code. If you have the talent for it, you'll make a decent game, and if not... at least you won't turn someone's work into a pile of shit.
The code I've seen in games here isn't that complex. It's pretty simple actually. Even the most complex code I've seen can be learned in less than 6 months. The hard part is continuing the graphics as you need to find all the graphics pieces that the prev. dev. used.
That said. A remake is to prefer over continuing someone else work. I know this is a pirate site, but I'm pretty sure that steeling someone else work and post it as your own, is a step too far for this site.
It's pointless for someone else to continue someone else's work, unless they get extensive notes and insight from the original creator in how plot and characters would have developed. It would lose the feel it had originally. Now the good news is that dev hasn't officially abandoned this game, they put it in on hold for a while instead and has said that they intend to finish this game in the future.
