It took him 12 months to do 10% CG events and 5% scenario script. And now he needs to do that same amount of work in four months. All while assuming he gives up on Voice to reach the April deadline and adds it later on. Yikes.
That's why showing percentages like this is a bad idea. Anyone who ever had to lead a project, any kind of project, but games and apps and anything that needs computer developpement in particular will know : you can't always quantify your advancement.
They thought a good idea to show progress, but they had to go back to whole parts of their code, add content they didn't consider initially and "made no progress", even though they probably worked as much or more on the game than any other year.

Im not really concerned on whether or not they could respect their deadline, Im more concerned about them not being able to limit their creativity and keep moving the goalpost. Im hopeful on an april release.

Btw, voices for this kind of game don't take much time, all things considered. It would only delay them if they had issues with the quality of the voice actresses, but I don't think they'll care that much.

I wonder how long the translation of the full game will take after the initial release.

Whoever translated the demo has done a fantastic job as it stands but I imagine the full game may take a while

Classic issue with giving estimates. If you set it up optimistically then people are upset that you're delayed because there's always delays. If you're more pessimistic about your schedule then people get upset that it's going to take so long and then dislike that you lied.

Giving percentages or smaller estimates just makes it worse. It'll be done when it's done. Plus for most on here it'll take time for it to be translated and the like, so even when it actually releases it'll be a bit before it's playable for them. I'll wait to get hyped for it being close when the translation's on the way.

I forgot about the Stats to Choose the Class Job & I cant find my Notes that I record those classes can someone share it again?
Or maybe I should just buy the Job Scrolls in-game & record the Stats again.

Spreadsheet I made a while ago:
Whew, Google is a pain in the ass.

Anyway, I had converted A Lost Cat's previous version of that to an Excel file for my own use. Since it was updated I thought I would upload it to Google Sheets for easier sharing. That ended up being a huge ordeal but I think I finally got it up

Some notes:
  • I included the JP names for as much of it as I could since the UI still isn't translated and MTool misses a lot of it. I had to OCR a lot of the kanji so it's possible some of them are wrong, but I checked it all through a translator so they should all be at least close
  • I used the term "Scimitarman" instead of "Dervish" or "Janissary" since that's the term used in the Leane 2 translation
  • "Strength" has technically been renamed to "Martial ability" in 2.0 since it doesn't actually represent strength (see the patch notes someone posted on ULMF), but I left it as "Strength" for clarity. Also I think the character stat page hasn't been updated since it still says 力
  • The UI has English names for all of the magic types, so I used those instead of the names used in the text file
  • Being a spreadsheet means I could do fun things like automatically calculate how many bonus points you need to roll to choose that class in the character creator
Don't know how actively I'll maintain this since Google is a pain, but let me know if anything is wrong
Edit: Also if anyone wants to make a copy to update/expand on their own feel free

With Suno and Voice AI nowadays, do you really need to hire VAs for these kind of games? It's not like the dev have the means to hire big shot JAVs so I am hoping or more like praying that this dev and other indie Japanese devs start using the tech to go full voiceovers without much scheduling and creative hassle.

I'd rather limit the amount of AI slop in my porn games thanks.

There's plenty of smaller part-time VAs available for voice-over work.
And schedules? It's just a matter of handing over instructions and lines.

Just realized from december 2023 to december 2024, it went from
Program 100%
Game data (maps, quests, items, etc.) 100%
Scenario 99%
Scenario script 90%
Character images, etc. 100%
Event CG 80% (value after planned number of images increased)
Audio 0%

to

Program 100%
Items, character CG, etc. 100%
Maps and quests 100%
Scenario 100%
Scenario script 95%
Event CG 90%
Voice 20%

They also worked on a ton of bugfixes in 2024.

Yeah, most career voice actors will have a soundbooth somewhere in their house, with decent microphones and other outfittings. That's more than good enough for an indie game to record their voicelines in. Especially in Japan, where the voice acting business is actually taken rather seriously. They just need their lines, some voice direction, and then they'll record at the earliest availability before sending their voicelines back.

No idea what he's taking about with the idea that big name actors are the only option or that a high-grade recording studio in an office building is a requirement.

The game is on the KiriKiri engine. Which MTool does support. If it doesn't work with this game, its probably caused by all the unique code he made when he engineered a miracle by getting a VN engine to run a blobber.

this may sound silly or dumb here but before i used mtool as i didnt know about it, i got google translate with google lens on my phone. I still use it sometimes for games that mtool cant translate if its needed.
So i guess in my case i could go with mtool and the lense tool on my phone to translate the menu stuff for myself.

I was able to use the instructions from the start to run an AI translator for most of the text on the fly when it first came out. Plus using my phone for the bits that the tool couldn't do. It wasn't great and really shows just how much work some translators put into these things in making them much more readable.

Its jarring that he is working on the comics and releasing stuff this close to the game release date. Could mean either someone else works on them or the game is at a level where he’s just squashing bugs and has free time.

To be honest, the resentment among players is getting worse and worse, and the behavior of the production team is a bit hard to understand.
Maybe he wants to provide new information about the game when the comic is released on April 4th? Or the recent production progress is very unsatisfactory, so there is no information to disclose?
In short, the possibility of release in April has plummeted.
