Yeah... I know...

"This cannot be fixed with a patch, so if you want to fix it, please send us the saved data where the problem occurred.
If you tell us which character you want to restore, we will fix it and return it to you."

This makes it sound like he is unable to patch the game and can only do it on individual basis with each player's save game. It might be a weird translation or my reading comprehension has gone bad.
I'm assuming a bit here but I think what he's saying by "can't patch" is that a character whose already been deleted will obviously stay gone even if you patch the bug that deleted them, so he's offering to manually replace those characters.

I don't think, really don't hope, that he's just somehow unable to fix the bug itself. That'd be a crazy thing to just shrug off!

a few years in developments, 12 delays down the road, last announced deadline coming right up.

I could easily see the "fuck that thing" state of mind kicking in :ROFLMAO:

I believe that you can move your saves (up to a point) between the demo and full version. Perhaps that's why he's offering to help with broken saves, because the assumed full release is close enough that starting a new save would be wasteful from his POV.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't we miss a decent chunk of the story if we don't start a new game? Like I'm pretty sure the demo got at least 2 time skip

I think you are still forced to do the tutorial and early story again in the final game. But what you get to port over from demo playthroughs are the characters and their names, class etc and then maybe some portion of their stats? You dont actually get to continue from the same part as you left in the demo. You will have your same MC (possibly level 3 again), same with max. And then when you get to that part the guild will have your demo made characters ready to recruit instead of having to make new ones.

I think the official version should not be able to directly read the archives of the current version.
You should still need to use the inheritance archive function to inherit the data to the official version.
You should know that some event flags in the current version have big problems, and directly using them in the official version will obviously cause very serious problems.
If you add detection event resets specifically for a large number of events in the trial version (such as the blocked slime selling hot spring tickets), it will cause a lot of work and it is not very reasonable.

passion project. so i'd say passion.
passion is not dead friend
I wanted to pipe in since everyone seemed to mostly go along with your framing rather than attacking it. Those renpy projects dying that you're responding to with "but passion?" Those are the passion projects. Passion burns bright with ideas that fall apart when people with passion realize how much time, effort, and money they have to invest to transform their passion into reality. That's why you always see devs with big ideas and fancy intros that then die after three updates, if that much. They're not all scammers looking for a quick buck. They're people fueled purely on passion not realizing how exhaustable passion is.

His blog has been updated.

We are very glad that we didn't release the product as it was.

As expected, there were various problems, and we are very glad that we didn't release it as it was.

We are postponing the release date to late July. We are very sorry.

We will do our best to accelerate the release date even by one day. (Postscript on 7/16)

We forgot to reflect the postscript of 7/16. We apologize for the inconvenience. (7/18)

  • Yay, update!

i'm not saying those VN are not passion projects, however if you drop your game after 3 update with 1000 words each because it's too hard and you're not a millionaire yet then i guess that wasn't the same kind of passion those dude i mentionned had.

make a game you want to play, and/or a story you want to tell.

if you drop it early i guess you didn't like your story as much once post nut clarity kicked in.

It would be hilarious if he just keeps delaying week after week until next year. But I'd not even be mad since that still takes more effort than delaying every 6 months

At least he's confirmed he's done being in "I gOtTa MaKe A cHaNgE!!!" perfectionist-mode and the game is actually done. It's just bugfixing, now.

Might not be released this month, but probably will be this year.
