Updates seem to be rather small of late. Even when you add the 2 updates per month together the content seems lacking. Is the dev still a one man team?

You don't have access to save or write into the folder you're playing the game from. Either take control of the folder in permissions or move the game folder to a different location you know you have access to write.
Try to run the game as admin or move the game folder to another drive.It seems your game is installed in C drive like C:\Program Files

There is no, but game works fine with Wine. There are detailed instructions how to run it.
PS, once final version reaches us, there are plans to port game to other Operating Systems.

That is a wide open question my friend. Some options.
1. Easiest way to do this and long term is to make a folder "Games" on your C:\ drive. Then move the Man of the House folder to the "C:\Games\" folder. Then try running the game.
2. Possibly a quick one time fix: Right-Click run as admin.
3. Permission take over: Right-click MotH folder > Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner Tab > Edit > Select your user name in the list > Check "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" > OK > OK > OK > retry game.
