Maybe I was wrong though. Once you've completed the game, they offer a translation feature, which may or may not indicate something. And I also played with sound off, forgetting that if there is voice-acting, it could help shed light. If you're serious about this, I will redownload the game and invoke my inner sperg demon.

The voice-acting is so cringe and they fail to say their own words correctly half the time. But I've powered through it and gained some insights... (And yes, I was wrong about some things last time around, and in hindsight, I was really sloppy.)
So some sample lines:

But you notice how much these resemble the translations? So this obviously is a substitution cipher. Oh well...
Something along the lines of:

Lines deciphered:
1: you're a human and you're not afraid of us
2: can't you understand our language? Is this really a world we don't know
3: "get out" no are you asking why

So dev MTLs their own language and then uses a subtitution cipher then replaces them with glyphs, THEN asks a voice actor to read out the substituted letters? Finding that first end felt oversimplified but it's quite something else, was an interesting bit!
