Like I said before, there are some RPGMaker games that can be good. The issue I brought up was that there's a LOOOOT of shovelware RPGMaker stuff. Not everything is bad, and I tried to convey that point across in my previous post. Clearly I wasn't clear enough.

Ren'Py is in fact another really bad engine I avoid too. So... I really don't have anything else to say about that. But thank you for sharing your opinion.

Fair enough, glad we came to a mutual understanding. The only reason I butted in was due to how the whole discussion even started. To me it's crazy that two people keep going back and forth on "standards" when talking about an engine.

And I agree with you that RPGMaker has a lot of uninspired crap (this game being one of them), but so does any other engine. A good tool is a shitty tool in the wrong hands.

Another Animism release... not very hopeful it'll be great, considering the track record so far. But it never hurts to hope, and the most I'll lose by giving it a try is some time, I guess.
Will update with my thoughts once I get around to trying it.
