This is me in most games especially NTR and NTS games. to me a MC is mostly a tool to get to know the characters and tell the story nothing more I rarely feel for a MC. Not all games but most id say.
Hard to argue with this ... but the ones where the MC DOES have more than a passing acquaintance with a personality tend to be the best ones ...
