I would guess you probably forgot to go talk to Professor Wolfe again to trigger the continuation.
This is the likeliest explanation. I can't recall what I did but will follow your suggestion and see what happens.

Have you taken a book/diary from the Winton quest? Have you checked it in the library?
I did and have, but apparently I was supposed to talk to prof Wolfe after the quest ended and it's possible I didn't do that. Thanks for the help.

Whatever happened to the quest in the book shop, "The secret garden". I if remember the mc believes something is going on their so you have to send a slave undercover to advance quest. It never showed up again?

How does one reduce house depravity? The bathroom has been upgraded to generate 0 depravity. The house screen shows +0 daily from both the house and actions but the household stats show a positive depravity score.

The help tooltip talks about it increasing from malevolent followers, but none of my four have that trait. There's no mention of a way to reduce it.

Work-in-Progress.

How much Depravity are we talking here? Like the last remaining 11 points or is it a high depravity like 90+?

I think how depravity is based on the scores of your girls and their depraved levels.

I've been playing this game for a week, and it's been very interesting. I trained a couple of girls and enslaved Aiko, which was difficult but very fun.

There is, however, one thing which bothers me. At one point, Nika's Clothes become "Abandoned" (not "Closed"). Ikaanos Control is currently 9/100, which may have contributes, I guess? It also must have helped me enslave Aiko, according to 0.8.37 release notes; but Nika's became abandoned before I downloaded 0.8.37 and was on 0.8.36c.

I'd really want to understand two things:

1. Is it a bug or is everything as intended by the game mechanics?
2. Is it permanent, or something can be done to have Nika's reopen?

I have found a similar question on Itch (not linking because my account is new), asked 13 days ago, and GrimDark replied:
Just wait for Control to go up - you can also kill off all the raiders to speed up that process. He'll open again once the streets are safe (or less unsafe).
Is that correct, or does Control only help with Closed rather than Abandoned shops? Which level of Control I'll need to have Nika's reopen?

Kill the red bandit person icon near Nika's.
It's at *drumroll* 1. Probably not a concern, but what do I know?
Not a concern. Getting it to flat 0 can be tricky.

I assume you want to increase workers and not guards in the mines.

Sera: SugarCube.State.active.variables.faction.warlord1.men = 10000
Kahill: SugarCube.State.active.variables.mch.yardslot10.other5 =75
Silfren: SugarCube.State.active.variables.mch.yardslot11.other5 =75

SugarCube.State.active.variables.mch might be helpful in general!
Thanks for that!
Would love the code for more 'elixir of serenity' if you know it?

Is the Valkyria a patreon reward or is there some specific condition for triggering the encounter? The wiki says the group with her should spawn after 30 days passes, but I've literally never seen it in the game.

SugarCube.State.active.variables.ownadvoc = 500

Valkyria is not a Patreon-restricted character. Only the Dunham girl is. Valkyra appears in Marston in exactly 30 in-game days after you start the game. Failing to get her on day 30 means she can simply get wiped out. Checking her group and then pulling back also means she just leaves.

The variable to forcibly spawn her in Marston is:

SugarCube.State.active.variables.slavtest = undefined

Sorry, but what is the answer to the second question:
Are there any downsides to freeing a NPC's crimes?
I don't see any real benefits from the convict status. Only disadvantages.

"Less penalties if exposed to humiliating deeds" - when would that be useful? For "Floor Crawler" assignments?

And why would anyone spend money to purchase forged documents and change a slave status? I really don't understand. If only the Ikaanos government paid some money for feeding, guarding and employing convicts, that option would be more interesting.

I agree to your statement about the benefits which is why I omitted answering that part. Personally I have not found a positive reason to keep a convict instead of a slave, except for someone playing a really harsh personality with lots of punishment and anger issues.

I've not done that part yet, but from reading the Discord and this thread I've seen reports that once Aria's rebellion succeeds you can only enslave convicts, so if you have someone like Juno or Dakota that you want to keep as slaves it's my understanding you could forge documents to keep them that way.
