I did some re on the game files, the game is just a mess. There are code for a "good ending" but was never used(force invoking the function will show that it was not finished, finishing the game normally will only get you to reset). There are a lot of assets for doom like fps that was never used. The are many high res texture that I have no idea where are they used. There are concept art for the game. The naming of assets are in both Chinese and English. There are screenshot of using an electric monitoring system IN HTML format? There are partially translated simplify chinese subtitles. There are outsourced live2d configs.

Also, you canuse '1' to do ranged attack which is never mentioned any where. And the flag for gallery unlock is saved in the setting file and the variable "_Settings_G" aka. the run time variable "InsData.INS.GlobalProjectEndID", set it to 1 to be in the "good ending" state and unlock the gallery.

This game is a pure, unbelievable failure because it could have been a success, which makes its failure all the more unbelievable.
The developer seems utterly clueless about what kind of game he wanted to make—he aimed for Dark Souls, so we got an action system that forbids jumping or sprinting, paired with a greatsword so slow to swing you could brew a cup of coffee in between swings. He also wanted to emulate Doom, so we got overwhelming waves of enemies and bullet hell-style barrages reminiscent of Touhou. Finally, he wanted to make a roguelike, so we got endless grinding through levels for crystals and terrifyingly high progression rates.
Well, it botched all three parts.
The massive hordes and bullet hell made Dark Souls' gameplay utterly unplayable—you'd just get swamped by dozens of enemies. The clunky movement system prevented quick dodging like in Doom, and the lack of jumping meant even the smallest bump would stop you dead in your tracks. Finally, the roguelike mechanics are an absolute disaster. Leveling up often doubles your health or attack power, turning previously impossible enemies into easy kills—there's no sensible scaling curve.
Ultimately, you're just a bullet sponge frantically clicking your mouse to beat another bullet sponge, sadly realizing they're all just paper cutouts.
The female protagonist pointlessly shakes her butt, taking up a third of the screen and shrinking the actual gameplay area to pitiful proportions. The tentacle girl's identical H-scene plays at least three times—I swear I believed until I beat the final boss that the tentacles she promised me would be a new system.
And the reward for beating the game? A restart. Surprised, motherfucker?
0/10. If you genuinely don't know how to make a doomlike, learn from Beyond Citadel.
It's a shame the developer didn't dedicate more time and effort to it, because they could have made something like "The Citadel," a fantastic game by the way. If you haven't played it, I recommend it. The first one is good, and the second one improves everything, it has better gunplay than many AAA games.

There are also voice military voicelines in the demo

Got the same problem... the game is quite buggy. Perhaps it'll be fixed over time? That camera glitch made me stop using finisher moves :HideThePain: Also, it looks like the game doesn't save the runes or whatever those special abilities were called. So everytime I load my save, I gotta collect them again and upgrading has gotten expensive.

I bought this game on release on DLsite, because of how much I liked the first MazeCave game.

The original title is a simple, albeit slightly buggy dungeon builder, which was satisfying to progress through. Replaying it is pretty fun too, to try and optimize your layouts, or to just appreciate the girls enjoying their time in the different rooms.

I am super disappointed with this sequel.

  • Annoying screen layout. The window where most of the action takes place is way too small.
  • Irritating combat. It's like a melee bullet-hell, but you can hardly tell what's going on.
  • I expected the lewd content to play a larger part in the actual gameplay. Aside from the 2D enemies and game-overs, little else.
  • Re-used assets from the first MazeCave game, which don't gel with the gameworld well enough.

The music kicks ass, but not enough to salvage the experience. Sadly, I regret my purchase.
I hold out hope that future patches improve the experience somehow, otherwise I have little motivation to continue past the first boss.
