Andrew’s history of role-locking being associated with drinking makes me wonder if Orlov is a former member of the Black Petal. When Andrew confronts him in the flashback he is VERY insistent Andrew should drink. He could be Andreadis.

Marina describes Andreadis as a manipulative non-violent person who is good at getting things done. Sounds a lot like Orlov to me. I think he may be masquerading as Nikos’ accountant- the one who got him in touch with Toska to begin with- and stealing his money in the process, which is why Nikos is broke. Financial crimes seem to be his MO.

You may be on to something with Orlov - he's kind of hanging there without much relevance to the story so far AND he talks about being ostracized for the magical 20 years - maybe he wasn't ostracized but was in prison due to Nikos in some way.

Orlov sees Andrews talent and grooms him for this role that he offers to Andrew as part of his plan against Nikos. A lost brother perhaps?

I liked Melissa's shorter stories more. Specially since I can't follow Aphodite's plot anymore. Plus, the whole aging thing didn't do it for me.

I prefer age Progression, but for me Aphrodite Mirror is more a trailer then a gender change adult comics.
So i dropped it , i don't like to read a thriller in a gender change gener

I also checked out on Aphrodite's Mirror a while ago because it got a little too convoluted for me and for legit story focused and i'm more into this stuff for the smut . I do like a good story with it tho and miss Melisssa's shorter works

That being said, seeing all the discussion about theories and characters motives and everything that happens in this forum and elsewhere I understand there's a lot of people who are deeply interested and love the story and the longer form, and i'm sure her actual paying subs are enjoying it as well. I understand everything won't be for me or necessarily up my alley so as much as i'm disappointed and miss the older Melissa I can live it and just eagerly await the next one!

Don't want to speak for Melissa, but I think for a lot of creators when you've been working on one thing for so long, known for one major thing you probably worry about the next thing and how many subs will drop off when the story is finished etc. I've been a fan long before A.M, i'll be a fan well after so I hope that's not the case but when it's an income you rely on I can see that being a major worry

It's also in the OP and can be found .

Since we're in a new chapter I will combine all parts for chapter 26 in one file in a few days time. So if there are individual parts you need, be quick to grab them, as I will combine all six part in a larger file soon.

Man, the updates are so far apart now I feel like it killed all the momentum of the discussion here. I haven't even read the last 2 updates because I'm waiting for more material I can sink my teeth into. Hopefully people come back to discuss the grand finale.

I've been reading the updates but have stayed rather quiet about them. The new information has been difficult for me to process. I feel like Melissa has been trying to clarify some details but has done so via characters that I'm lacking trust in. I guess I'm just in a keep-my-mouth-shut-and-wait-and-see mood.

I'll just quickly add this little spoiler of a theory just for fun.

I feel the story lost momentum a while ago. Seeing Marina bimbified really didn't help me either. It's a shame, but not unprecedented for a big ambitious story many people theorycraft on is difficult to bring on. At least this author hasn't put out a about refusing to finish their story.

Gah! Game of Thrones (the TV series) is still my all-time biggest disappointment from a work of fiction. I've never been more invested in characters and a story that failed as hard as that did. I still haven't been able to rewatch any part of that show since the finale, and it used to be my all-time favorite. At least with Rise of Skywalker I had low expectations going into it.

I think that for mystery stories, you have one of two things:

1) Either you have the big bandaid rip off where all is revealed and the reader is shocked because it now all makes sense with the final puzzle piece.

2) Or there's enough pieces of the puzzle that the mystery is main mystery is solved and there's a growing dread as the ramifications of that answer start playing out.

Of course, either one of these can have lingering questions or an ambiguous ending. That, to me, is separate from the core mystery.

I think that's where I feel a bit unmotivated to speculate. We've basically ruled out enough that the actual specifics lack impact. We generally know everything already. Or at least know enough that it's either 1 or 2 characters or someone we've never met. And now that the story is this long, having a new character come in will feel like an asspull no matter how well executed it is.

And really, with so much of changes being permanent, just how broken the story has made Andrew and Marina's relationship, it really narrows the possible endings these character's can have.

I’ll get the speculation train rolling then lol. Why has Nikos been out of town again? Was this following his argument with Marina?

Also I’m glad to see Elena back in a red dress and an updo. It feels like her signature look, which makes me think this is the last outfit she’ll have before the b renewal.

As a lover of the books, for me, the cracks started to appear in season 5 of GoT and I'd given up in season 7. I was surprised it took people so long to see the direction of the show was wrong. But sadly, when it comes to disappointing follow-ups of works of fiction Hollywood is racing their way to the bottom. Outside of Mission: Impossible, I don't think there are any big franchises who evaded awfulness. And I didn't like the last MI-film.

It's been a while since I've read the whole story, but wasn't there something bad planned to happen at the wedding ceremony? Maybe he caught word of that and fled before something could happen under the guise of a business trip.

There were some low spots here and there, but I still loved the show overall through the end of season 6. Especially the last two episodes: the Battle of the Bastards, the destruction of the Sept of Baelor, Daenerys finally crossing the Narrow Sea... then in S7 I was thinking okay, I don't really like where I think this is headed but maybe they have something brilliant in mind to resolve all these dangling threads in the final season. Then S8 was just one crushing disappointment after another.

Oh boy, let's relive some old frustrations shall we.

As a book reader I believe when anyone adapts a big story, they should follow the story rather than create their own stuff. So when plots are omitted from an adaptation it's annoying to me. But when that means new changes result in completely different characters in that adaptation a screw-up has been made. And that's what happened in season 5. The Dorne plot was incredibly stupid. Dorne plays a big role in the original story, to condense that like the show did is frustrating.
Important characters from Dorne were not in the show. Dornish characters want to crown Myrcella queen of the Seven Kingdoms, so of course the show has Dornish characters kill Myrcella.

Tyrion turned in the dumbest character in the show. Excluding characters he travels with, most notably Young Griff, a Targaryen pretender, was dumb. Griff claims he's young Aegon, son of Rhaegar and therefore the true heir to the Targaryen throne. He's someone to make Daenerys' claim futile as he has the better claim. That will result in friction for Dany, which (is theorised) will be the impetus for Dany to blow up King's Landing. None of that road rage after hearing bells (that suddenly changed meaning in the story too).

Lady Stoneheart being excluded. I mean, whatever. When Catelyn Stark is killed she's revived as Lady Stoneheart, a cruel undead who seeks vengeance against those responsible for the Red Wedding. I really like her arc. In life she's always hated Jon Snow and one possible direction for her story to go is she gives up her life to resurrect Jon Snow. But she causes carnage and it's a fun character for it.

Stannis got assassinated in the show. Feckin' stupid. Book Stannis is great, the show never did him right. Stannis will probably win the battle against the Boltons in the Battle of Ice ( ), as he's been preparing for it by drilling holes in a same way Nevsky won the .
But 'somehow' Jon receives a letter from an unknown sender with questionable sealing wax telling him Stannis lost. That's when Jon decided to gather Night's Watch forces to march on Winterfell. Which goes directly against his oath, as it's very much political. It's why Jon gets killed.
The coup Jon commits to become the leader of the Night's Watch is also not included in the show. Jon is not a good man, though she show depicts him as one. The influence Aemonds crow has over the election process is also ignored in the show. The crow is warged by Brynden Rivers, the Bloodraven, who has an agenda to put Jon in power. But he uses a form of magic so the show omitted him largely.

Mance Rayder doesn't die in the book. Jon uses magic to make someone else look like Mance, who is killed. So Mance still wanders freely in the book GRRM will probably never finish. But he's still very much a player.

These are just a few of my problems with season 5. The later seasons built up on these issues in a butterfly effect. The whole "but season 8 ended according to Georges bullet points as submitted at the end of season 4" defense of the show doesn't work for me. If you and I both go to Sri Lanka for our holidays and we end up there for a 10-day stay, but I go by cargo transport in a shipping container without climate control whereas you go by an enjoyable cruise ship and have a relaxing ride there we won't have the same experience at the end of our vacation. That's what the showrunners took away from us. "But Bran ends up king, so don't criticise us for the way we've depicted him as king". Feck off. Bran isn't Bran anymore, in the same way the Bloodraven isn't Brynden Rivers anymore. They're an embodiment of the weirwood trees. Humanity will lose in the end. The weirwood tree, essentially a giant fungus, will win.

The books are amazing, which makes it all the more frustrating they probably won't be finished. Mannis preparing for the Battle of Ice is subtly spread throughout a full book and it will be glorious. There are other plot points in the book that will hopefully pay off, should the books ever be released. The show dumbed things down while also removing all forms of magic, even though it plays a significant part in the story. Euron Greyjoy is all about magic, the Faceless Men are about magic and have their own plans. They probably have a dragon egg and infiltrated the Citadel to look for information about how to hatch it.
But those stupid showrunners wanted to adapt a fantasy story with magic, only to . That stuff still gets my blood boiling.

Either way, the books are great. It's just a shame we'll never get an ending to them. YouTube has plenty theories on how they will end so you may as well pick one and pretend it's canon. That's what I've done and I still enjoy my re-reads.

Haha, yay, we're a ASoIaF discussion thread now! :ROFLMAO:

Unfortunately I'm not really qualified to argue with you. You sound like an expert. I only started the books after the show started and I only finished the first 3. AFFC was super boring and I didn't make it far into it.

But even though I hate the GoT showrunners now, I can understand making changes, and especially cuts, to the adaptation. Yeah, the Dorne stuff was bullshit. But I think they realized that it would take 800,000 years to resolve all the dangling plot lines that are in the books, which is how long it will take GRRM to finish writing them. Or he realized that the task is impossible, which is why he's not even trying.

And of course, the show also failed to resolve anything in a satisfying way. It almost feels like they tanked on purpose. It seems like any other half-decent writer could have ended things better following season 6 with two full-length seasons (20 episodes).
