I really hate this. When I sub to a dev, it's because I appreciate their work and want to hear about the game I subbed to. Doing promos that spam my feed and mailbox is similar to paying for a streaming service and still getting ads. It's just a shitty thing to do.
I can see that - I agree that I overlook them most of the time when I get one in my inbox, but they are a valid tool for getting your game out there in front of new eyes. The way I see it, if it works, it works, and if it doesn't work, it's just an email that gets ignored. Too many of them though, is certainly a problem.
It's annoying. I got spammed in my inbox by multiple devs all promoting the same trash games. I don't want that shit in my inbox. And I'd have to take an all-or-nothing approach to just not receive any emails from them at all. I unsub to devs who do promos. If you want to do a promo, put something in the game itself at the end or something. Not spamming shit to my subscriber feed and inbox.
