Thanks changing from gl2 to angle2 fixed it.

It's just a corrupted image, nothing to do with a graphic card or driver problem...

not a corrupted image, newer renpys req quite a bit newish graphic card for gl2. i see that on many games cause my card is old.

Might be, after starting the game, use Shift + G to get to the Graphics Selection, which will again use a new setting, after game is re-started. Sorry for all the commas.
