MP Development Update #17
Hey everyone,

I know I missed a week but I've been going at it lately and I think it's safe to say this is going to be a bombshell of a dev update here.
I've been talking about a maid character for a while and she was supposed to debut in 0.6 - however I just couldn't get her right and wasn't sure about the direction I should go with her.
But I'm happy to say that she's done and I'm satisfied with the results.
I'm also introducing 2 more new ladies. That's right, because there are never enough hot girls in a Lewdlab game.
The first one, a lovely MILF I created out of necessity. Midnight City has just got a new Mayor. And boy she's a great addition to the lineup in my opinion. The effects of some of her new policies will be felt right in the 0.7 release. I've planned quite a few fun interaction with her for the future. Also, one more lady with glasses! Yea!
The third girl I've created is a special one. I didn't have any predefined role for her, I just sat down and went with the flow - and she's the result. She's different from my usual characters and I like her a lot. I have some ideas on what to do with her and where she'd fit but she's going to have to sit on the sidelines for a little while.

I've also created a 'turntable' animation for all 3 of the new girls in their bikinis. These animations will be put into the extras section in the game. I'm planning on doing this for all the girls for each of their outfits so there are going to be a ton of these, I'll add these as soon as I can but maybe not all will fit into 0.7 as these have 210 frames each so they take a while to render.

On another note - I had a discussion with one of my friends today about my work. I have some ideas I really want to pursue and create some of that type of content, but that could work as bonus content only. So that doesn't really move the actual game forward. So I'm in kind of a dilemma right now - should I do these bit of bonus goodies that I actually would love to do - or should I just shut up and keep on working on the 0.7 update.
Many times I feel like I could do some cool and new stuff I haven't done before and do a bit of experimenting and broadening my horizons but there's always the time pressure of finishing a new release. I'm not a big fan of quotes but I've seen this one recently somewhere and it really stuck in my head: "You'll never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it"
So I guess I'll just have to make some more time then
I'm also planning some updates to gameplay - specifically for how the scenes/events are triggered. These auto-trigger scenes feel a bit clunky at times so I've came up with an idea on how to eliminate those and go with a more player friendly approach. Not sure if it will make it into 0.7 though, but we'll see.

Lewdlab Keep working on the actual game instead of new things that would eventually lead to lots of delays and halt the progress of the game. Have you not learned anything from your Unity adventures?

It's a sign of when the dev doesn't like their own game and want to do something different but they can't just stop so they come up with this "new idea".

I think it's a good think to have new characters, but lewdlab shouldn't make the same mistake as ICstor, instead of creating independent new characters in independent stories, then abandonning them for the rest of the game because you have to focus on the main ones; you should integrate them within a main character's story.

For example the mayor and the maid can be integrated in the mc's mother story as side characters, we will see them appear from time to time and have fun with them and then move on, it's a better way of doing it, and it doesn't feel like incomplete work, or that you are deviating from the original goal, it's like sidequests linked to the main one like in the witcher.

no, I didn't but I don't like incest, really should have names instead of landlady/landlord, you really shouldn't have to get a 3rd party item just to read a VN, really should be named to begin with.

also, a way to rename MC as well but that I can live without, lord/lady is very off-putting.

After 500+ posts and 2+ years here, I would think you know how these things worked. The real version is the incest version; the landlady thing is to keep the dev from being kicked off Patreon.

Face it, these devs aren't Hemingway. If you can think of a better trope to use than the landlady + older female roommate + younger female roommate, great. But until then, that's what we've got.

It's not hard to name them Larry Anderson and Melinda Anderson or something else that isn't the same surname as MC, the patch will still do it's thing whether they have actual names or called landlady/landlord.

End of the day, plenty of other VN's to look at but I was just asking if it did maybe change at some point.
