Excuse me? He is literally selling the access to his game "Midnight Paradise". Unless you pirate it, the only way to play it is to "support" him with money.

he is not selling access to his game. As Myself101 says in his post:

You spend money towards a project but unlike a purchase there's nothing owed from a contractual point of view.

All developers could stop sharing their 'work in progress" builds with their supporters and only release the final build to the supporters as 'Thank you' - but they don't need to do that either! Which means you could spend $1,000 for support and later don't get access to this game or you have to purchase the access via Steam etc.

No sex scenes with the main cast yet and going by the last Dev Update there won't be any in v0.3 either. He's added some naughty side activities (massage/yoga) but it takes more time before the main story gets there.

He even asked in this forum whether people preferred for him to add wank material through side activities or progressing the main story so we'd get to a point where that made sense there. If I remember correctly most answered that they preferred story progression - we'll see.

Hope 0.3 arrives soon - I didn't even finish the 0.2 content yet, due to some bugs preventing me from progressing.

I also have problems with 0.2.Realy strange since 0.1 was without any.
I doubt that there will be any sex with any of your family before 0.7,just like DOD.We maybe will need even more updates.

It's an unlock key. The patch is implemented by the developer.

I guess that will change with the Ren'Py release to. He can switch to a regular patch (changing the names and specific parts of the dialog) instead of a file simply activating the changes. That should also take care of issues like the patch only taking effect if it's installed before a new game is started.
